Creed 2 (2018)
from Sequelcast 2 and Friends Hosted by Mat Bradley-Tschirgi
Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi and Thrasher discuss Creed 2. Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) is pressured into fighting Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu), son of the man who killed his father. This so-so sequel plays more like a remake of Rocky 2-4 than a sequel to Creed. Burdened by the Ivan Drago plotline, it rehashes the familiar Rocky beats. Despite all that, some aspects really work. Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad are given some nice dramatic scenes. Although sparse in dialogue, the Drago family falling from grace is a sensible evolution of what once were over-the-top characters. Let's hope Creed 3 has a storyline that doesn't lean as hard on the prior Rocky pictures.
