from The Project Censored Show · host Project Censored

The Progressive magazine teamed up with Project Censored for its June/July issue and took an in-depth look at media literacy in the context of the upcoming election. On this week's program, Mickey speaks with Norman Stockwell, publisher of the venerable political journal about how and why the partnership came about; as well as Project Censored's associate director, Andy Lee Roth, who wrote about corporate media's news abuse and the coming election; and Mischa Geracoulis, who was guest editor for the special edition. They discuss the many ways critical media literacy can help create a more informed and meaningfully engaged electorate. Later in the program, Mickey and Eleanor discuss the relative utility of electoral politics in our current context while highlighting numerous ways people can be civically engaged in addition to showing up at the ballot box, making political and community activism a way of life, not just an every four-year endeavor.
