Critical Race Theory

from New DEEL Podcast

In this podcast, we define and examine Critical Race Theory (CRT). We will discuss how racism manifests itself in a variety of ways and show how CRT challenges long-held assumptions that drive educational policy and practice. Dr. Parker's research is focused on the utility of Critical Race Theory and its application to education policy and leadership at the K-12 and higher education context. His research interests include social and political change its impact on schools and the effects of neo-liberalism on educational leadership and the politics of education. In his latest book Critical Race Theory in Education Edited By Laurence Parker and David Gillborn, CRT scholars examine the race-specific patterns of privilege and exclusion that go largely unremarked in mainstream debates.
