I also shared a few historical notes, including reflections on the Battle of the Somme and a moving clip from Harry Patch, reminding us of the human cost of war and the importance of remembrance.In the second half, I was joined by my old friend Alex for a thoughtful conversation about pollution, climate policy and the importance of critical thinking. We explored whether you need to believe in man-made climate change to want a cleaner, less polluted world, and discussed the tensions between science, politics, economics and public messaging around green energy, electric vehicles and fossil fuels. We also touched on how people form beliefs, why humility matters when weighing evidence, and why learning to separate emotion from reason is more important than ever in a world saturated with information.
