Criticizing Cops - ft. Tom Myers Part 2

Welcome back to All Things Crime! In part 2 of this episode, we’re diving into some explosive topics with special guest Tom Meyers, a former Army Ranger and seasoned law enforcement veteran. We’re responding to your comments on our recent videos, especially the one featuring Betsy Brantner Smith, where we discussed the shocking failures of Director Cheadle during the attempted assassination of President Trump. With almost 400,000 views, this video sparked a lot of passionate reactions, and we’re here to address them head-on. In this episode, we dive deep into the complex realities of law enforcement, exploring the challenges officers face when dealing with high-stress situations and the consequences of those split-second decisions. We discuss the often-heard phrase, "nobody hates a bad cop more than a good cop," and the difficulties in identifying those who might not belong in the police force until it's too late. We also touch on several real-world examples, including a tragic incident involving a police officer in Minneapolis, and the infamous Golden State Killer, shedding light on how law enforcement approaches cases involving extreme violence and trauma. Our discussion covers the use of force continuum, the ethical and practical challenges of using deadly force, and the impact these decisions have on officers and their communities. Join us as we explore the thin line between ensuring public safety and maintaining trust in law enforcement. If you have different opinions or suggestions, leave a comment, and we’ll address them in a future episode.
