Welcome to the first episode of Bad Guys in Space. Space. Space. Hopefully you'll have heard a professionally rendered version of that.
I'm sure by now you will. Anyway, that song will be a Kingie production. This is a Kingie production. We're talking...
Welcome. Dan and Rob talking Bad Guys in Space is the title suggests. Franshises that go on long enough that the creative team has no choice but to explore the final frontier. Rob, do you believe Space is the final frontier?
Well, based on our conversation before we start recording, of course. Don't be so coy. Now we were just talking about some Star Trek shit. That's right.
That's right. How can you not? How can you not? In times like these.
I think there seems to be this thing with horror movie franchises in the 80s and 90s where there's a progression of like, all right, we do the original, then we do a sequel that's bigger, body counts higher, etc. Then we do a sequel where we don't have the rights to any of the source material and it's sort of about something else. Yes. But then you get to the city.
Yes. You hit the big city. I'm thinking of Jason takes Manhattan. I'm thinking of corn kids.
Corn kids are a part of this, of course. And then simpler times really. I love that movie. That's the one where the guy gets a really long, his head comes off and he's got a really long spine.
It's a great movie. And then of course, you're like, well, we've gone to the city. Well, where else can we possibly go? What about space?
And then you go to space. Now, we've talked about this in the past. Corn kids have not made it to space, even though we think they should. And we'll probably write that script at some point.
I think as soon as we're done recording, we should probably start breaking the story. All right. So it's such a good idea. It really is.
And I feel like, especially after we watch all of these other bad guys in space movies, we can avoid some of the pitfalls. Absolutely. I mean, reclaim its former glory. All we have to do to like avoid the pitfalls of critters for is like, I haven't read the screenplay, but I imagine it's a lot of like ellipses.
All we have to do is make sure some stuff happens and we've got to leg up on this picture. Yeah. No, this, as much as the critter series in general, and I got to tell you critters for especially, this was a big movie for me as a nine year old. Really?
Yeah, I don't know why, man. Well, you loved critters. I loved critters. You were like, I don't even know gremlins.
Give me the mad TV gremlins. The mad TV of gremlins. This was like the, yeah, the cracked magazine version. Yeah, well, the hundred percent.
Very much a knock off. But yeah, you know, we go to space. And in my nine year old brain, I was very dumb. And I was just like, well, there's no difference between critters in space and like aliens.
Right. Yeah. And these are all in space. These are all films.
They're all equally good to me. The child brain thing of like, they wouldn't make a movie if it wasn't good. Yeah. Exactly.
So, yeah. We may end up doing this whole series. Mm-hmm. Because right on Friday, we're going back to the source.
We're watching critters one over at patreon.com slash gaming pod. Right. So throughout this whole bad guys in space series, what we're going to be doing is on the main feed Tuesdays, we're taking our bad guys to space. And then on Fridays, we're going back to the source.
Back to Earth, we're going to the original. So we're getting like a nice sort of balance of we're in space. But where did they come from? Yes.
But yeah. So I think we could end up doing this whole series over time, or at least like the first four, because I'm realizing there were more after. But two, of course, directed by or written by McGarrus. And directed by McGarrus.
Yeah. I'm sure we'll do a Garrus run at some point. Seems inevitable, right? We have to, right?
Yeah. Makes sense. Also, two is written by David Tui who we just watched some of his work. Wait.
Was that a pitch black? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. The Riddick movies. He directed all the Riddick movies.
That's right. We'll get to that. And then of course, we've long discussed, well, privately, but let's tease it. We've long discussed A-listers in B-movies.
Yes. And Leo is in Critters 3, Leo DiCaprio. That's his film debut. That's correct.
That's right. So I think we're going to cover the whole series, much to my chagrin. Because I'll tell you why. I did not enjoy one very much.
I know it's a seminal film for you. Sort of the standard by which all other films are judged. Yeah, basically, yeah, is this as good as Critters? Yeah.
That's what I asked for me. And the brutalist. I just saw that. Is it as good as Critters?
This is very close to where was Slimer. It's like this is judging movies by whether or not a Critter was in a movie. Yeah. But this Critters 4, not good.
It's pretty bad. You know what I'm going to say? On the bat? Not a lot of Critters in this movie.
Not a ton of Critters. It's a lot of adults yelling at a teenager. Because most of the movie is poor Paul Whitthorn getting reamed by some sort of Eastern European fellow. Yeah.
Swedish type. Yeah. No, you're right. So directed by Rupert Harvey.
Rupert Harvey. He's pretty assertive. This is the only thing he's ever directed. This is we should note also this came out the same year as Critters 3.
This was sort of they were back to back. Sort of a Matrix 2 Matrix 3 situation, you know. And the totally intro to this movie is the end of part 3 where Charlie climbs into a pod to to place some eggs in there, etc. Who among us?
Who can't relate? Right. And then get sucked up in space. So this guy, whatever.
Yeah. He's been a producer on the like for the duration of the franchise. So he was finally like, enough's enough. Let me get behind the lens.
Yes. Starring top build Don Keith Opper. Now right off the bat here, this is no good. You got the guy.
We'll talk about it on Friday. In the original, he plays like the town drunk, Charlie, who just sort of like nobody believes. He's like constantly. Is this sort of a town-y profile?
Uh oh. Do I have to open up the fucking? Well, I guess so. I guess we're in town-y profile.
We're kind of doing a town-y profile. All right. Hang on. Here comes Big Bad Big.
Wonder how much they pay for it. I have the comments. Five, two, three, four. Let's just about find a smell in the world.
They don't cut me outside. They probably won't have a phone either. Looney, looney, looney. What is it that you want?
I need it. I want some rain. The last town report said you were in arrears in your taxes, Andy. They're not retired.
They're just tired. I guess I'll never be lucky. Hell, I've married anyone. They's a man.
Let's make us a baby doggy style. Where's yours from, honey? You got money. She doesn't because she likes holy grass or teddy bears.
Lion and coffees. Let's wake children up getting the door. Bingo. It's just like the one I used to have in Iceville before I was a bum.
I got the cancer engine. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure.
I'm sure. I just have an Iceville before I was a bum. I got the cancer and she got the change. Neither of us all that fucking lived with us.
Soak's got that cap, it's really good. I really like that it ends with that cap. Yeah, that's like, you done did good. You got up in the lap.
You had plenty of time. Yeah, I know. You go run some errands? Yeah.
I made myself a sandwich. I did my taxes. Just side note, I think when we do write our corn kids in space movie, maybe the ship or the space station should be called Gatlin, but maybe like a number two in the... Or like acronym?
Yeah, yes, you're completely right. You got to stop saying this for other people to steal. I'm not joking. We might as well write it.
We've got nothing else going on. I know. Like in life. So we're ready.
Yeah, we're going to write corn kids 12. We could possibly make like $5,000 to split. Whoa, whoa, whoa, what is this? The Patreon?
5000. I got over the course of the entire Patreon. Right. Yes.
Anyway, kingypod.com slash, I mean, no, patron.com slash gaming pod. Go there. Check it. Check it out.
Let's hit our $5,000 a month goal. Oh, God. Anyway, so we should do our ledge drive or something. It would be sad, but it would be fun.
Like the outcome, the result of these are open wide open wide open right now. So you were saying Charlie, a town, Charlie town drunk, who and former baseball prospect. Yeah, we've lost that thread completely here. Immediately by by critters to he is in space, fighting the critters with Ugg and Lee.
Yeah. So you didn't watch two or three, correct? No, but I did read the plot. Okay, good.
So yes, in critters to he becomes a bounty hunter with Ugg and Lee. And then, you know, and by the way, it starts out in space. What do you mean who? Critters to.
Oh, yeah. Yeah. So Charlie's in space already. So for him to be like, I'm in outer space in for continuity issue.
Cinema sin. Well, yeah, I think it's not a sin. It's a cinema sin. I think he maybe he was just a little surprised because when he felt asleep, he was still on earth and he didn't who wasn't expecting to be in space, but he was in a space capsule.
He was. So in the sin cinema sin, get that clean for the board. Uh, so yeah, Charlie, at the end of part one, he just he like, ugly and Lee are like, all right, we're out here. Good job.
Job well done. High fives all around and Charlie's like, Hey, you guys need like a guy to work on your spaceship on pretty good with, you know, tools and whatever. And that's like the last we see of them. And then part two picks up with Charlie being a bounty hunter with them in space.
Honestly, feels pretty true to life. Like, like a washed up athlete who becomes a bounty hunter becomes a bounty hunter. Yeah. It's funny.
Yeah. Bounty hunter is like the most Mark McGuire, or like it's more like Danny McBride on his bounding now, right? Easy to imagine him becoming a bounty hunter. Totally.
Uh, which I think having like in having seen all of these movies, I think two is probably the high, the high watermark. I mean, you got a, you got a couple of pros in there. You got a couple of pros. I think it's a lot sillier in general, whatever, which is.
It's weird to me that these movies are not that there's not more silly shit happening throughout because like, silly, it's supposed to be like the critters are silly. They're silly looking. They act silly. They're foul.
Yeah. Yes. They're foul mouth. They say fuck.
Yeah. Things like this. They're little trouble makers. These are these critters are trouble.
They are little trouble makers. So, um, yeah, having, having a Charlie, Don Keith, offer being top build here, you know, like he's he's the only guy we're on part four. He's the only one coming back. Um, except for Terrence Mann, who makes like, it's more of a cameo part, really.
He's in the, the very beginning, like a hologram and then he's at the very end. Um, Terrence Mann is, uh, frickin, uh, Johnny, what's his name? Oh, uh, uh, the rock star Johnny Steele Johnny Steele, right? That's the, the, the face that, uh, adopts.
Yes. Yeah. Which, I mean, we should also say that they're shapeshifters. Uggingly are shapes shifting bounty hunters.
It doesn't really come up in this one. It doesn't because. Ugg has, it was just like, yeah, I'm an alien. I'm a, I'm a, uh, whatever.
I'm a bounty hunter. And then when I go to earth, I'm going to shapeshift into this guy, Johnny Steele. And then four movies later or three movies later, whatever. He's just like, I guess I'm just this guy now.
I'm just like, I haven't, I didn't want to change out of it. I just like the way I look. Yeah. Although in two, I'm seeing he does turn into a gorgeous, busty, centerfold model.
No, that's Lee. That's not. Oh, Lee does that. Okay.
Lee's, Lee's the, Lee is a bit of an identity crisis. He's always changing shapes. I think Lee just wants to mix things up. Yeah.
Crisis isn't the right word is it? It's, he's just, yeah, he's living his best life. Yeah. You know, where Ugg has like a favorite outfit that he wears every day, Lee is like, I like to change it up.
Yeah. I like to, I like to some days I want to be a busty centerfold. And some days I want to be a dead cop. Yeah.
I have eaten police officer, a critter to cop. Yes. Yeah. So Terrence Mann in this plays counselor, Tetra, which, uh, now, I mean, we'll get into it a little bit, but he is, uh, he's climbed the ranks.
He's a bureaucrat now. He's no longer a bounty hunter, which also sort of feels, feels strange, but real. We're just like, Oh, yeah, that's a charge of way too much. Right.
Uh, the CD is possible guys now, just like a city counselor. Yeah, exactly. You know, yeah, he's the counselor, Tetra of Terracore, which is Terracore company. Terracore is, it seems like a company.
It seems like the, uh, well in Utah, near this company. Or this movie series. Yeah. That's the, yeah, that's the best comparison, I guess.
Yeah. I mean, this movie is, is biting off a lot from alien. Um, it's, it's again, it's very slight in everything. It's not doing anything that the movie alien does besides like have a crew set in space, whatever, but I can pick off.
I'm not even one by one. I mean, two of them get picked off. It's a small crew and the body count is small and yeah. Uh, so anyway, uh, so that's Terracore man.
You have Paul with her, yeah, with her horn plays Ethan who's like, a witch horn, a witch horn. Oh, yeah, we're sorry. Or with horn, maybe with horn. Uh, it's the best part of the show always.
I can't pronounce anybody's eyes. It's so, have you ever watched on cinema? Yes. You got sort of like a high deck area and inability to read.
Just sound it out. You know what it is, Dan? Uh, I am dyslexic. Are you actually?
Yeah. And I know that. Yeah. No, it's, it's fine, but I, it's, uh, every time I feel like a triple to being like, Oh, the wickedly talented, the wickedly talented Paul with her horn.
That's even. Yeah. Oh, man. Anyway, uh, so there, yeah, you got a, uh, Ethan who played, he's like the apprentice to, um, to Brad Doris character, but he's like, uh, he's like his teenager.
He seems like not, not like, uh, it seems like 18 or 19, but he's young, right? He's like just sort of a kid. Can't wait to get back to Oife. Once he's down the days, he, I guess misses his dad.
It's pretty, his motivation. Inconsequation. Yeah, it doesn't really matter. Um, then you got Anders Hove who plays the captain Rick.
Um, this guy is, um, yeah, he is from a, where's this? Uh, Greenland, um, which is from what I understand, a harsh environment. Sure. Right.
And then famously, I see. Famously, I see. And I see. Very nice.
Um, yeah. The Vikings were like, what if we just made it the opposite? So nobody came here. We'll throw them off the sand.
Um, but this guy, he's in, um, the horror movie series subspecies where he plays a radu, a vampire. Now this all sounds like gobbledygook you. Yeah. No, no, no, it makes perfect sense.
Um, but there's like five of these movies and there's like the hierarchy of like horror movie franchises and we're subspecies. Uh, well, you know, who's sorry. I just like, so for some reason, I'm, you know, I've got Anders Hove's IMDB page open and in his like known for titles. I mean, he was on general hospital for a long time.
I'm seeing, but the subspecies movie that he has known for for some reason is bloodlust, colon, subspecies three directed by one of our favorites, um, Ted, Nick, allow. And of course we know it's Ted, Nick, allow from. Terror vision. Ah, one of the greatest films of all time.
He directed the first, I think he directed all of the subspecies. We, I, I bet I talked about this on the terror vision. So probably because he directed all of the subspecies movies. Okay.
Subs, uh, they're the production company behind subspecies is this company, Full Moon, which does like low budget sort of like horror movies. They're all like pretty bad, but a lot of fun, you know, like in that terror vision sort of vein. Um, but yeah, that's, that's this guy. He, he wears a ton of like prosthetics to be this vampire guy.
And, you know, he's a subspecies. Um, he's a human. He's a simple soldier. Hope.
Yeah. And in this, he's, um, again, yelling at this young man is also in a few Lars von Trier movies, which I do not approve of. He's in the Infomaniac volume one. No, you're a big Nymphomaniac guy, right?
Uh, drop the guy. I, uh, I've watched, like, I've watched a good amount of the Lars von Trier movies. I've seen Nymphomaniac. It is as unpleasant as you may expect.
Uh, oh, God, man, I get it. I understand why people might be into Lars von Trier. I just, it is so not for me. I, you know, I don't need a bad time.
It's just always a bad time. And I just got, well, it's like, let's, let's examine the horrors of life. I'm like, I'm doing that every day. I don't need a, I don't need your damn camera.
You have for me. Um, I want to mention while we're talking about casting crew here. Yeah. One of the one of the co writers is a one of them.
This is his only credit. The other one is a guy named David show, you know, this name. I don't. He wrote the crow, David show wrote the crow.
Yeah. They would be David show route. They're out. They're out.
They're out. Um, he wrote a Texas chainsaw massacre prequel, but the thing I want to call out and I'm realizing that critters is at like a nexus of, of horror nonsense and also just like Kimmy, Kimmy nonsense. Um, he wrote an episode of what show is this? Uh, is it Masters of.
Or. Sorry. I lost it. The McGarrus thing.
He did. Yes. So it's probably that one. Sorry.
I clued it. Oh geez. Oh, I did a bad show man. Yeah.
So he, oh man. Oh man. I did a bad job. Oh yeah.
It I'm looking at it now. He, yes, he wrote two episodes of Masters of Horror. He wrote an episode called pick me up about probably like scary hitchhiker from the look of it. Yeah.
But directed by another, another fucking King me favorite. Yeah. The namesake of foe and month himself, Larry Cohen. Larry Cohen of foe and month.
Um, I don't think it's pretty intuitive. What foe and month was just from saying it, right? Yeah, I don't think we need to. It's the films of Larry Cohen about phones.
Yeah. DeDoy. DeDoy. Um, there are two Masters of Horror is a really fun silly show where every episode was written and directed by like a different sort of staple of horror.
Are you familiar with the, like the Masters of Horror dinners? Yes. Yeah. And they chased out Cronenberg for being a pretentious Yahoo or he stopped showing up.
He stopped showing up because yeah, and like John Carpenter would go. That's, I mean, we watched a couple of those. That's what I was going to say. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. The cigarette burns and there's another one I can't remember. But, um, yeah, I mean, that's, I just, I like that.
I think it's fun that these guys are like, yeah, we're sort of like, you know, uh, all we have is each other. Yeah. Like we're kind of stepchildren of Hollywood. Yeah.
We're basically, it's like they have the same relationship to Hollywood that like the porn industry does. We did. Yeah. For a long time.
Yeah. It's like we're also out here making, you know, you know, important entertainment. Yeah. We're entertaining people.
We're, we're keeping this fucking town alive. Scumbags. So who else is in this? I'll tell you.
Yeah. Um, uh, cartoon wolf, Angela, or cartoon Wolf, how Angela Bassett. Yeah. I mean, good.
Look at looking unbelievable. Her arms. Yeah. She's like, she's ripped.
She has ripped. Uh, they made her get in shape for this. Six months. You think they made the cast go to boot camp like they do sometimes for the movies?
Yeah. Probably. Yeah. Um, it was like a boot camp is the name of like an outlet shoe store and they made them pay for their own wardrobe.
Yeah. Yeah. So like Angela Bassett who like now seems like such a, like a name, like everybody knows Angela Bassett, right? Like she's a movie star, I would say.
Um, but she didn't, I mean, obviously like she's in critters for she wasn't like a name. Obviously. Obviously. But she like it would be the following year.
So this comes out in 92 and then 93 she plays Tina Turner in What's Love Got to Deal with it. And that really fucking like shoots her into the into the public eye and everybody's like, Oh, damn, this is like a real actress here. So a true baddie. Yeah.
It is the titular Stella. Yeah. I see her get her groove back. Do that on your own time.
Yeah. That's right. When you do it, whoever's groove you see get gotten back on your own time. That's that's for you to know.
Yeah. Um, so we mentioned Brad Derv is in this too, but we did not mention who he plays. Yes. Al Bert, Al Bert to first name Al last name, Bert.
Ridiculous. And he's got to help him. He's like, he's doing his best. He's like the John Henry of this.
He's the steel, he's a steel driving man. He's trying to, he's the guy in Metropolis whose job is to just like turn the big crank all day or whatever. Yeah. That guy.
I'm like, everybody in this movie is bad except for Brad Doref. I would, I would agree. I would agree. Even even Angela is just sort of like she doesn't, it seems like no one's directing it kind of like, you know, it's just like, you remember your line, right?
Okay. All right. So, yeah. Yeah.
You know, I, I, I, it feels like this weird aliens, like I keep saying alien, but like Angela Bassett is playing like the Ripley character, but not really, you know, it's, she's like, she doesn't get anything to do here. And like anytime she has a line, like at the end when Terence Mann shows up and it's all whatever, she has this line where she's like, screw you and she just puts like way too much on it. Yeah. Like, all right, everybody just takes that back here.
It's pretty cool. Let's, we're, and Brad Doref is like, it seems to be the only guy who knows what movie he's in, right? Yeah. He's like, I'm playing like kind of the nerdy guy.
I'm the smartest guy on the fucking ship. I'm like kind of Nebish and I'm difficult to work with. Yes. Yeah.
Yeah. But yeah, I mean, Brad Doref, he's, he's fucking pro is what he is. He really is. And here's what?
Here's what else? I love that his IMDB picture is him dressed like he's swinging, he's singing like good night sweetheart in a Photoshop quartet. Was it like a motor hat? Was it blood wise?
Oh, I don't know. Never seen it. Yeah, it's like a it's in the Criterion collection, Dan from 1979. But that's, yes, that's his like, yes, he's got like a what do you call those hats?
That's not a porter hat. Boder hat. Boder hat like a straw boater hat. Yeah.
So many other pictures you could have went with, but those are the one I like. You got Eric Dore. Yes. Who is of course from Twin Peaks plays Leo plays Leo in some peaks and kind of in critters for he's like he's somewhere between season one Leo and season two Leo in this where he's already been shot and oxygen deprived.
He's like grumpy, but he does what he's told. He do what he told. He do what he told. He's got the pony.
Yeah. I mean, this guy has maybe the worst hair I've ever seen on screen. It is. So it looks like he just dips it in like olive oil.
It's so greasy at all times. It looks like, you know, sorry. I got to go on. I got to do it.
This guy, when he goes to when he needs a haircut, he goes to the Sears gift wrapping counter and they just with the scissor, like when you curl ribbon. Yes, that's exactly what his curls look like. We all remember the Sears gift wrapping counter. We all know the Sears gift wrapping counter.
I'm 85 years old. There's a, not a, I don't know if it's a Ricky Lake episode or more. He's somebody, one of those like daytime sort of like whatever shows. Yeah.
Yeah. They're on it and he's there and his hair is not in a ponytail. It's just down and it's some of the most offensive shit I've ever seen. That's got to be Ricky Lake because she's like a little too classy.
Like they're too close classy for Sally Jesse Raphael. Oh, that could be a two glasses. I was going to do a quick Google, but that's too many too many options. Sally Jesse Raphael.
That's too many names. I'm not typing on that. Also, the voice of the ship is played by Martin Besswick. Yeah, the ship.
Angela. Yeah, the ship Angela, who's a. I'm to be calls her a second star. Yeah.
What the fuck? So fucking rude. But she is like a she's in a few James Bond movies. She's in the movie, Doctor, Dr.
Jess, Dr. Jekyll and sister. Hi, Dr. Jesse Raphael.
Yeah. Where Dr. Jekyll turns himself into a beautiful lady with big natties. And she's not like crazy or anything.
She's just like, Oh, yeah. Yeah, she's a super horny. I think that's fun. And then Anne Ramsey plays Dr.
McCormick. Were we just talking about her? Yeah, why were we talking about her? I don't know.
Yeah, I don't know either. I cannot tell you. And he's been in a ton of stuff, including something we've watched for the show. If you know, write us a king me pot of gmail.com.
Let us know what Anne Ramsey's in. And don't know. And don't just send a link to the IMDB page. I already have it open.
She was in two episodes of Next Generation. Is that right? Oh, yeah. She plays Ensign Clancy.
Who could forget? Who could forget? Who could forget a friggin Ensign rolling my eyes? All right.
Oh, wait. Hold on. Isn't there someone named Lynn Ramsey to where we talking about her? Oh, we were talking about her.
Where we? Yeah. OK, cool. We were just talking about Lain Ramsey because she was in critters.
OK, far out far out. Anne Ramsey born on September 11. So sorry. Sorry, birthday is ruined.
Ruin forever. He won here my impression of Anne Ramsey on September 11, 2001. Yes. Well, this is just perfect.
Oh, great. Birthday ruined. Her 41st birthday ruined. The big four one.
That's everybody in the movie, too. That is everyone in the movie. The stormtrooper guys that show up, they don't get names. Sorry.
If I had to guess, that's probably like Paul with Thorn and undersoaf. Probably double duty. I would say it's probably like. Screw you.
Yes. Yeah, of course, of course. All right. Set up the lights and then get into wardrobe.
I mean, don't don't set up the lights with the mask on. It's going to be way too bright in here. Yes. All right.
So critters for. Can you hear Bert snoring? I can't, but that's adorable. You hear it?
You hear it? Yeah. I got to wake him up. No, don't disturb him.
He's having a great dream. All right. Well, yeah, I know what people are listening to the show. It's soothing to them, I think.
All right. Well, if it's not soothing right into kimmypot at gmail.com subject line. Wake your old dog up. Wait, wait, wait, that old boy.
Wake your dog up. So, like I said, this movie picks up immediately after critters three. Old dog song locks. That's the subject line.
Sorry. Go on. Picks up immediately after critters three. Charlie.
I like it. Charlie McFadden, the town drunk, turns bounty hunter. Many such cases is about to destroy two critter eggs. Yeah.
Cray eggs canonically in critters three. The critters go to the city and they can have it like this apartment building, whatever. That sounds great. Had just apartment just come out.
Yeah. Yeah. Joe's apartment was out MTV riding high. And then so it ends with Charlie finding these two eggs and he's about to blow them up.
And that's where the starts. He's about to shoot the last two critter eggs, krit eggs. And then he gets a transmission last minute and it's ugly and he says, hey, Charlie, there's been a new directive. The Galactic Council has passed this new law where you can't you can't destroy a species.
That's about to go extinct. And these are the last two critter eggs in existence. So yeah, put him in this. There's a I brought you a pod here.
So just place these eggs gingerly in the pod. And she does by placing them each in a coffee can. Yes, first in a coffee can and then into their little little cabinets in the pod. And and Charlie's like, oh, well, these are these are really bad guys.
You know that and he's like, I know Charlie. They're trouble makers. I mean, he's like, Charlie, these are the rules. I was like, all right, if all the rules, whatever, he does it.
And then the door on the pod closes and then a gas is released, which knocks him out. Freezes them according to Eric Wickley. Oh, apparently he's frozen, like, after evil. Yeah.
Well, it's frickin cold in there. It's frickin freezing in here, crates. And then the pod gets shot up into space and just starts floating around. There doesn't seem to be a plan after after the gets in the pod.
Like, yeah, they're just going to go. It's well, it's hurtling back toward the council or whatever, toward where it goes. But it's I mean, when the crew of the RSS Tesla finds it 50 years later, they seem to them. It just seems like space detritus.
Also, our assess Tesla, this is a British ship. Yeah, that's weird. Yeah, it's British. It's British ship.
But that's where we pick up after this with this cold open. That's very cold. Open. That's where we meet the crew of the Tesla.
Everybody has like the captain, Rick. He's a bit of an asshole. Yeah, he's mean to everybody and no one likes him and everyone's like, we should all agree to do the opposite of what Rick says. Yeah, nobody respects him at all.
Yeah. Yeah, it's it's again, it's more like a thing, but without any of the sort of character development. So just like, like I don't know, like Bernie in this. I don't know what he does.
Cargo specialist, which sounds like a made up title, doesn't it? Yeah. It's just like the guy that checks in the boxes. Yeah.
They acquire that is very like, like just like retail job or something. They call you like a something specialist. Sure. Like when I worked at all, maybe I was probably like a shirt, a shirt, a shirt specialist or something.
Yes. Yeah, a crease analyst. That's right. So yeah, Bernie, the cargo specialist, Albert is he's an engineer.
Then Fran, Angela Bassett is the pilot. And as we mentioned, Ethan is Albert's apprentice engineer. Now they must be transporting something before that they encountered Charlie's pod here, but we don't know what that is. We don't get any of that.
