Cross Over

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Friday morning, the 7th of August, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Joshua 1:11. This is Joshua speaking: “Pass through the camp and command the people, saying, ‘Prepare provisions for yourselves, for within three days you will cross over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess.’ ” It is time to cross over, my dear friend. You’re getting comfortable. Don’t get comfortable. We are passing through. This is not our home, our home is in heaven! Remember the Israelites lived in tents. They never built any houses. They lived in tents until they crossed over the Jordan River. Then we go to the Gospel of Luke 4:43. This is Jesus speaking: ”…but He said to them, “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.”  Remember, they wanted Jesus to stay with them. They didn’t want Him to go, ”Lord, stay, please.” ”No! I have got an obligation to My Father. I have to go out and preach the gospel to the ends of the world.” We need to take new ground for Jesus. It’s time for you and me to walk on the water, but the good news is, we do not go alone. He is going with us, and He is leading the way. All we have to do is follow. Remember, if we are not going forward, we are actually going backward. In the Kingdom of God, there is no such thing as standing still, either we are going up the ladder or we are going down the ladder. Now, I’m speaking figuratively because for some of us maybe God wants us to write that book. Some of you must open that new business. “But we don’t have enough money. Times are hard.” Sometimes that’s the best time to do it. You look at many men and women who have succeeded in life, they do not wait for the right opportunity. They wait for a word from God. Many times, the Lord has told me, “step out”, and that is the time that He does great and mighty things. You know, a ship tied up in harbour is going nowhere. When that ship sets out to sea, even if the wind is contrary, even if the wind is blowing the wrong way, a good captain knows how to work that ship with the sails, and he tacks against the wind and still gets to his destination.
