Crossing the Thin Blue Line

Police departments across the nation are being subjected to intense scrutiny in the wake of the George Floyd police murder in Minneapolis, and, indeed, it was reported today that Minneapolis plans to totally restructure its law enforcement efforts.And the news continues to bring us reports of instances where police officers themselves have crossed the proverbial “thin blue line” as they deal with suspects, particularly those of color. Now, Democrats in the House of Representatives have responded with new legislation. We’ll see what happens with that.Meanwhile, Donald Trump proclaims himself to be the “law and order” president, a specious claim considering the many laws that he, himself, has broken.
