In this sermon, Pastor Johnathan addresses the critical issue of unity in the church. He begins by explaining how Satan constantly attacks unity, using differences to create division among believers. The pastor emphasizes that "true Christian unity is spiritual warfare" and reminds the congregation of the power of a united church. Pastor Johnathan identifies two main enemies of unity: the spirit of criticism and pride. He warns against the damaging effects of criticism, which can lead to broken relationships and a critical disposition that closes off our hearts to God. The pastor then discusses pride as a destructive force, quoting C.S. Lewis who called it "the chief cause of misery in every nation and family since the world began" (1 Peter 5:5). The solution to these enemies, according to Pastor Johnathan, is humility. He points to Jesus as the ultimate example of humility, referencing Philippians 2:5-8. The pastor concludes by outlining five steps for Biblical conflict resolution, based on Matthew 18:15-17. These steps include praying first, confronting privately, seeking help from mature believers, involving church leadership if necessary, and ultimately releasing the issue to God if reconciliation cannot be achieved.
