CROW & COYOTE discuss the Pope's pilgrimage to Washington
from Cliff Crego · host Cliff Crego
THIS IS A LITTLE improvised political satire piece I recorded back at Camp LOST & FOUND in August. The setting, of course, is the great Oregon wilderness. I had just been out on a two-month circumambulation of the WALLOWAS, on foot & mountain bike, documenting the effects of a hotter, drier climate on the great Whitebark pines at the top of the range, during what will most certainly come to be known as another "summer from hell." I was sitting looking at the imposing limestone cliff in the photograph while recording. I had been thinking, "If we need the corrupt, false authority of Rome to help us save mother Earth, it is hopeless." What we need, I think, in all seriousness, is a revolution of being and consciousness, and not more mere repetition of the mistakes of the past. (True believers, and other fans of the so-called 'moral authority' of the Pope, please forgive me...) PHOTO: Cathedral Rocks, aka Castle Rocks, South Wallowas, OREGON
