In the dead of night, as people sleep, that's when the spirits creep. As the bell tolls three, dark things take power. We like to call it the supernatural hour. All right.

Hey everybody. Welcome back. It is another episode of Supernatural Hour. The fun never stops.

Oh yeah. Oh yeah, the fun. I mean, I am your host, Castle. With us is beaker.

What's happening? Hey, Tim. You know what's funny is when you go back and listen to our episodes when Peaches Doesn't Have a Microphone. You can still hear her responses.

You can still hear all the stuff that she says to make fun of you. They're kind of like Peaches. Evie Peaches. She actually doesn't have a microphone.

She's here with us, but she's sitting on a couch chilling tonight. So if you hear what sounds like Evie Peaches with a British accent, it's just Peaches Becker. Say hi really loud. Yeah, it's just like an EVP.

She doesn't follow instructions very well though. You said say hi really loud. She said hi everyone. That's not the same thing.

Well, they're British. The clean English, American English. They're different. Really loud everyone.

Yeah, same thing. It's got your biscuits and cookies. They're the same thing, but they're really not. Because if I went to McDonald's and said give me a sausage biscuit, I wouldn't expect to do chocolate cookies with a sausage bag in between them.

That would sound delicious though. That's not a disgusting. I'm going to sign with the N one with disgusting. I'm a fat kid.

I'll eat anything. So we do have granny cinnamon here, AKA the N. I thought we dropped that. Well, the granny cinnamon.

I don't find it. I just roll with it. I brought it back for an episode. Oh, OK.

It's like a reboot. I'll try that. All right, then. Oh, bring it in the Scottish accent.

Irish, I can't do Scottish. Oh. All right. That sounded more Scottish than Irish.

It sounded more Scottish than Irish. It's not pretty Scottish. Hey, mute button. It's called the mute button.

Man, it's like you've been doing this for 95 episodes or something. I know, right. Speaking of which, we've got some business that we need to take care of today. Tim, do you want to start us out?

Yeah, see, that's why I was kind of leading right up into the bi-menting way of 95 episodes. You know, I'm going to catch up real quick. I'm here making jokes about biscuits and cookies and sausage drink muffins with egg. Yes, I have an egg McMuffin sitting right in front of me right now.

I just noticed that. I had to ask right before I started recording. I've got my egg McMuffin right here. So when you hear the crinkles later in the podcast, that would be the McMuffin.

It's me devouring my egg McMuffin. This is for you, Alyssa, Alika. Whatever your name is. Time's the charm.

Anyway, back to the business. So yeah, this is our 95th episode, which means we're coming up pretty quick on episode 100. And we have decided for our 100th episode. Her bidu.

Talking art. I went to public school in Utah. By the way, thank you for voting down initiative one. I don't want to pay that picture.

Yeah, I'll probably do. I don't want to pay more gas, but I do want to get high. Well, well, I'll drive you. No, that's called a DUI.

That's illegal. I want people who won't even go there. This is a we're doing a political episode now. No, I totally believe in following the law.

You know, like, you ate for prop two. It's going to help a bunch of people, but that's not why we're here. It's got to be my job hard. Probably.

I know I want everyone to follow the law and do things legally. But 100th of coming up, we have decided that we are going to do a quote unquote live episode. It'll be a quasi live episode. So it'll be live for the people that come to the recording.

So what we plan on doing is we're going to set up our recording studio. I believe we're going to book out Fort Douglas. Yeah, I believe we're going to try and arrange the book out for Douglas. We'll see if we can use our banquet room.

And I think what we're going to do, and correct me if I'm wrong, this is one of our half-ank plots. It's still in the works. But we are going to actually probably open it up to what? 20, 30, yes?

Yes, I like that. And we are going to, there's going to be tickets. And there's a little cat with this. It's going to be really cheap.

It's going to be like maybe five to ten dollars. Five to ten dollars. And that money is going to go all of that money. Every penny of that money is going to go into buying.

It's going to go into buying. It's actually streets, stuff, or serves. What do you're getting? Well, we're getting fancy now.

We're stepping up from the McDonald's. Hey, hey. So, check for a platter. It'll basically, we may be doing that.

Basically the idea is we're going to have a party atmosphere. But I think what we're going to do for that episode is we are just going to show up. We're going to set up our equipment. We're going to set up a guest microphone.

Or two, because we have those. Or two. And we are going to basically just have a room full of you people eating the food you paid for. Nom, nom.

And we're going to come up and ask your questions. And we're going to answer your questions right there on the spot. Yep, it's going to be fun. This is the idea that we had in.

We're rolling with it. So as soon as we get the details worked out, we will post the tickets. Online at advancedpairnable.com. Like we said, it's going to be cheap.

We're going to mostly basically every penny that's going to go into food and refreshments. We want to be a fun event. So we're too cheap to fit the bill. We're going to early ourselves.

Yes. Well, since we only released every other week, this is probably going to be happening towards the end of January, beginning of February. Yeah, so there's time and we'll announce it here on the show once those tickets become available. And so just keep listening because otherwise you're going to miss it.

Speaking of January and tickets we have available for sale, we do have our upcoming investigations at the family tree restaurant on Friday, January, and we do have our upcoming investigations at the restaurant on Friday, January 11th and Saturday, January 12th. Now the January 12th investigation is sold out already. It was only up on the website for two days when it's sold out. So because we had a lot of people that were upset that they missed out on that one, I did go ahead and booked a second day.

So the Friday, the 11th, as of right now is of this recording, there are only three tickets available. So if you're still looking for that perfect Christmas gift for somebody, go to advancedpairnable.com, click on the link and buy tickets to go to the family tree investigation. Tickets are $50. And that does include the price of the dinner.

So we meet up about two hours early, or about an hour before the restaurant closes anyways. We get there about eight o'clock. We all have dinner and then we kind of discuss some of the do's and don'ts investigating, place some of our evidence, one of our basically wait for the kitchen staff to finish cleaning. And then once the staff has gone home, then we will start investigating the building.

And family tree is one of our favorite venues to go to. I believe every single time we've been there, something has happened. We've had some sort of activity. We've gotten some sort of VVP.

It's never been a dull experience at the family tree. No family tree's always been amazing. There's always something going on there. Some nights are a little tiny bit slower than others, an emphasis on the tiny bit.

But their other nights are just all out. Hell on wheels. Everything's gone crazy. I've never been the family tree where something hasn't happened.

One of the two locations where, well, actually I've seen full figure out versions of that particular venue at least twice that I can count. Where I can honestly say it was a full blown person. One was amazing. It was like right there smack in front of me.

So that's it for business. So keep your eyes open for the 100th episode tickets. We will have the venue hammered down, prices hammered down. Like we said, we're going to keep them really cheap just enough to help cover party foods.

So let's point on that. Tim, stone of the week. What do you got for us? I'm mixing it up again a little bit because I was not going down my list of the top five anymore.

This one popped on my head actually earlier today for some random reason. So I'm rolling with this one. Is it a chalkboard chalk? Yes.

It's green chalkboard chalk because green is the color of healing. So basically what you do with the green chalkboard chalk is you draw a circle on your forehead and then a smaller one in the middle of it. So it looks somewhat like a bullseye. And then you take your hand and you hit yourself in that bullseye and go, duh, chalk doesn't do anything.

The actual stone of the week is citrine. I have citrine. I have citrine as well. It's a great stone.

This is one of the stones that I've purchased the stone for my dad last year at one of the paranormal events. And he actually wears it in a pouch around his neck every day. And he's told me since I bought that stone form, he actually has stopped using his arthritis cream for his hands. He hasn't had the pain in his hands anymore so they bought that stone form.

But one of the things that citrine does is the properties of wealth and abundance are some of its more known properties. So if you're seeking abundance in financial or business venues, this stone, this is a stone to age in the manifestation. It also works in synergy with other crystals. So it can be beneficial to combine citrine with a helledoor, golden labradorite or imperial tote has to increase the personal will.

So it's also a success in business or I'm sorry, I can read real good my notes. English or hard? Well, I got chicken scratch handwriting. That's the excuse I'm using, even though I'm reading off of myself on where I take my notes.

Even though all success in business or in life is a result of hard work, sometimes the hard work is difficult to muster up to four to two four. So this stone helps kind of manifest that and get you that drive that you need to to actually want to work hard to achieve the things that you want. Some of the other properties with citrine, it's linked to the creative process. Whether it's natural heated, it is said to activate the imagination via the second, third, and sixth chakras.

It enhances mental clarity and allows for the flow of ideas and visualization. Visualization. You need more citrine. Apparently.

Especially when you use the meditation, the citrine property is not used. The citrine property is very effective in strengthening mental output. You're right, they don't need to use this. And establishing goals.

Stones to use in addition to citrine to amplify creativity are zincite, orange, calcite, and carneolium. So that is the Sonoma way of citrine. Alright, for those who haven't seen citrine, it's kind of an orangey color and it's yellow. Yellowy orange.

So actually yellow. The orange. My orange. Citrine is actually French for, it's right from the word, the French work for lemon.

And most citrine is actually yellow to represent the sun because it gives you the energy of the sun as well. And it gives you the size of the orange that's broken. It needs to be cleansed badly. Alright, yeah, we have investigations.

What do we got? Actually, we've had two since we've podcasted last. And these are interesting. It's a family.

We have visited everybody in the family at one point or another. And this kind of is based on years ago, probably 15-20 years ago, some of the teenage boys in this family were dabbling with some things that they ought not to be dabbling with. And it's kind of followed the family for years. And so we went to the mother's house for a second time.

We've been before. problems come back. And it was interesting because we went in and you know we were using the dowsing rods and using our instruments to get two meters and we were speaking to the entities that were there. And we took a couple new investigators with us and we broke up into two teams.

One team was upstairs, one team was downstairs. Excuse me. And we know we already kind of knew what was there but we wanted to give them the opportunity to see how they worked. And when we went downstairs you could feel that there was a type three back in one of the back rooms.

And in this back room there was a storage room and there was a ton of boxes back there. And as far as activity the homeowner didn't really have any activity per se. I mean there wasn't anything moving. Every time she would go downstairs she just felt a darkness and you went downstairs and it definitely felt dark and heavy.

And we went back into this room where we could feel where it felt the most dark and there were boxes in there. And I heard a noise and at first I thought it was the people upstairs because they were right above us. Talking to what was up there. But then as I got listening I thought no that's not upstairs.

It's not coming from upstairs. It's coming from the boxes. But you could hear the entity was not happy that we were there and it was telling us by making these boxes. It wasn't creaking boxes.

It was like tapping on the boxes. It was really interesting. But basically what was going on there was a mirror that was a portal so we took care of the mirror. And there was an energy like a bubble over the house that was holding some of these spirits and they couldn't get out.

So we were able to clear that. We were able to close a portal. One of the spirits wanted to stay and the homeowner was okay with that. The spirit was an elderly woman that the family had seen a lot.

The different members of the family had seen quite a bit over the years and they were okay with her staying there. The second one was actually this woman. The same woman, the homeowner. It was her office.

And where it's a public building it's really hard to cleanse and keep cleanse because you never know who's going to walk in the door next and what they might bring with them. So we don't really cleanse it. But one of her coworkers every time they go back into the x-ray room they just kind of felt oppressed and felt like they were being touched and they were just really worried what was there. Turns out it was two women and they pretty much just wanted to be acknowledged.

And once we talked to them a little bit and found out a little bit about their story we gave them names. They wouldn't tell us their names so they gave them names. They didn't necessarily want to leave and they weren't doing anything bad. So we told the coworker just to acknowledge them when you come in here and say hi and ask them how they're doing and haven't heard anything back so I think we're good there.

It's interesting. We've had a few investigations where really the spirits, if they're type ones, if they're just acknowledged that seems to quiet them down. Just walk in, hey, how are you doing? Once up and the activity seems to...

activities almost as if they're trying to like, hey, look at me, I'm over here. I exist. I find it interesting about that first house that you did. I was actually there the first time that we were at the house.

And I know I haven't told the end what we found there. I don't know if any of the other investigators mentioned anything to you but that same room that you were talking about. I picked up on type three in that same room. Yep.

Not the car room but the one across the hall. Yeah, there was one. There was one. Yeah.

The back, basically the back right corner of the house and then there was also one in that storage room area. Yep. All right. Well as we've, or keeping with our theme, last episode we talked about the vampires and we actually forgot to talk about energy vampires.

Did you want to touch it on that at all? Tim or do you want to say that for another day? We'll say that for another day because I don't have that information pulled up. I completely forgot about that.

Yeah, we had a whole other segment that we totally spaced until after we came by the energy vampires into another episode. We'll put it at the werewolves. Okay. Or werewolves depending where home.

We can call the Twilight episode. Well if it's me talking it's werewolves. Werewolves. Wherewolves.

I speak good. Let's talk a weird paranormal news before we get into our main topic. First story we have is a, it's a sciencey story. We're going to talk science.

Science! And stall for me Tim I've got papers to dig through. Stull. Okay.

So this one day I was walking down the street and I was talking about a talk. I'm back. Street taco cart to the best. There we are.

Very, very professional. Okay so this is just in. Ghosts officially do not exist. There's a scientist named Brian Cox who works on the European Large Hadron Collider.

Is that the name of a celebrity like an actor? Probably. I think Brian Cox is a fairly common name. I missed a Peechase VP.

What'd you say? I hate something. She hates this article. Oh well, she's seen this article.

How is it that he can hear her when he's like 20 feet away and you're about four feet away? Right. Brandy and I have this connection. He puts thoughts on my head.

So Brian Cox a scientist is determined that ghosts do not exist because he figures the Large Hadron Collider would have stumbled across ghosts at this point if they existed. What the hell is that? The Large Hadron Collider. Yeah.

Explain for stupid people like me. It's a great big monster as an accelerator that's, it's a multi-billion dollar tunnel that goes in a circle where they like shoot atoms at other atoms and they explode and they record what happens when the atoms smash into each other and explode basically. It's where they came up with the Higgs Boson. It's where they basically test a lot of quantum mechanics.

It sounds like there's a tap dancing. It's not true. It's not true. It's not true.

There's a lot of hard time gliders where they've been doing all this quantum science experimentation stuff. But as Brian Cox has basically said that ghosts don't exist because if so the Large Hadron Collider would have figured them out right now and it hasn't. So therefore ghosts do not exist. He went on basically saying that ghosts or energy and energy dissipates by heat and if ghosts existed they would dissipate immediately and he can't take anything in our current physics that would account for ghosts existing.

What's interesting is, does this Hadron Collider stationary? Yes. So wouldn't it be safe to say that it would be extremely easy for ghosts to avoid this thing? I think his point is that he's saying that the physics that they've determined this thing make it not possible for there to be ghosts.

Well, per physics, B-Shan't flying the moon is all wrong. So, well you know, that's kind of what I think is interesting is because if you want to look at, trust me, I'm all for science. I support science. I think science is fantastic.

But I always laugh that you go back about 50 years and look at what scientists believed and look at what we know now and kind of go with the guys or morons. Like in the 1800s when they thought if you were 35 miles per hour your head would basically explode for going so fast. And tomatoes were poisonous. And flies were spawned from raw meat.

That whole continental drift theory, that was way out there too. There are people that still think there is this flat. There are people that are people that are part of the Flat Earth Society that think there is this flat all around the globe. That was an actual post from those people.

It was like saying that again slowly. It was, I've seen it on Facebook and other places. It was actually posted by the Flat Earth Society saying that we have members all across the globe. Okay.

Wow. Just saying. Kind of makes your head hurt. I love I love reading.

I wish we had a show that wasn't paranormal. But I love reading about the Flat Earth Society and the things they believe it's awesome. Alright, so guess Neil deGrasse Tyson. Did I rub off any there?

Yes. He checked with the Professor Cox was really claiming that the particle accelerator had actually just proved the existence of supernatural spirits. He was quoted as saying, if I understand what you just declared, you have just sort of discerned the European Center for Nuclear Research to prove the existence of ghosts. He asked, yes, replied Professor Cox.

So apparently Professor Cox has proved that there's no ghosts. So we can, this will be our final episode. There will be no episode. We'll be doing a whole episode.

Peace out, but apply for that. Well, hold on a second. Now I've just decided since we've, the name is now the supernatural hour. I think that encompasses more than just the paranormal.

We can branch out in cryptozoology. So we can talk about Sasquatch and Loch Ness Monster and El Tupacabra and other stuff like that. Because technically those all fall in the category of supernatural. We're not done.

Get your tickets for 100 episodes of it can be available. Alright, our second story is about haunted mirror from the Titanic. I'm here that once belonged to Captain Titanic and I said to be visited by the Doom Man spirit on the anniversary of the ill-fated ship sinking. We'll soon go for auctioning England.

The area piece of history was reportedly given to Captain Edward John Smith's housekeeper. Her name is Ethel Win and it's like 15 letters in the name Ethel Win. Sounds like a character from Lord of the Rings. It was given to her following his death as both of a mentor over former employer and as a means of payment for services rendered since the man's untimely death person will look at me meant there's no way for her to get paid.

Hey, Tim, I appreciate you doing that work. I'm dead. Here's a mirror. Well, thanks.

At your paycheck. I always loved looking at myself in the mirror. To come that long flowing beard. Oh yeah.

Well, how was I going to do it? To come. No, I mean, I have to be able to see it to grow it. Come on.

Attached to the mirror is rather chilling story revealed by the housekeeper's sister and led her to a friend. In the missive, she amuses that Ethel Win always spooked me when she said that at times she could still see Captain Smith's face in it on the anniversary of when the Titanic was sunk. The possibly enchanted mirror was subsequently passed down to Ethel Win's heirs in the years that followed until ultimately wound up in the hands of a man named David Smith. After keeping the object locked away for five years, Smith has now looked at a cashier on his macabre artifact by putting it up for auction.

Based on the appeal of the Titanic story, experts expect the mirror to garner significant interest and could net well in excess of £10,000, which translates into roughly $13,000. So apparently there's a haunted Titanic mirror out there floating around. So if anybody's got $13,000 burning hole in your pocket, the Captain's mirror is up from Ethel Win's descendants who have passed it down to Mr. David Smith.

Can I just say something? Because it's driving a minute? No. Ethel Win.

Ethel Win. So Castle is getting over a cold. He sounds weird. That's why just say you know.

Yeah, I'm past the coughing stage finally though. So he sounds normal to me. No, he sounds weird. I feel like I said, weird.

You feel like you sound weird? Speaking of speaking of weird. Did you see this one that Peter's posted on Facebook today? I did not.

I found this one to be fascinating because I just read it just now. No, the headline is what caught my interest. It actually says humans know when they're dead. Sciences have recently discovered.

Apparently. Do they know? Yes. The question of what happens after we die has misaffied human sense before we figured out how to make fire.

Some believe in a spiritual afterlife, where humans will be judged according to their actions on Earth, while others believe some part of us will continue through reincarnation for many of those without religious conviction. The sense is usually is that when your time is up, your consciousness is wiped out in an instant, kind of like switching off the telly when a permanent remote control, this must be a British article. You can come over and read it if you want. However, she just offered to read it and I said, yeah, go ahead.

She's like, no, I'm good. However, it could be our deaths and their aftermath that are not quite as black as black might as well. That researchers from New York's Stony Brook University School of Medicine have found evidence to suggest that human brain activity is still functioning for a short while after death. The heart will stop beating, but for a brief time, the deceased person will be aware of what's going on, fully understanding their life is over.

The scientists even reported how the deceased individual could hear themselves being pronounced dead by medical staff. The time of death is usually announced as the point where the heart ceases to beat, blood is no longer circulated to the brain, leading to a person losing their brainstem reflexes almost instantly, including their gag reflexes and pupil reflexes. The cerebral cortex, the thinking part of the brain, also slows down at once. Flatlining within approximately two to 20 seconds, this means brain waves can no longer be seen on an electric monitor initiating a training action of cellular processes, which eventually brings us about the death of brain cells.

However, this process can reportedly take hours to complete after the heart has beat its last beat. The team of scientists came to the grim understanding of post-death consciousness by looking at cardiac arrest cases in both Europe and the US. Those who had survived heart attacks were fully aware of what was going on while they were technically dead before being resuscitated. They were even able to describe things which happened after the heart stopped beating.

There's a little bit more to that, but I'm going to kind of end it there. But yeah, basically they're saying there's proof that when you die, you're fully aware of the fact that you're dead because your brain continues to work on afterwards. All I heard is that vampires are real. Yes.

Alright. I just thought it was fascinating to see that they... It is kind of fascinating. I mean, and it makes sense.

I mean that your brain might continue to function for a time. About the two hours it says. That's a long time. So you could be totally aware of the fact that you're dead for two hours before you actually dead.

I don't feel creepy. I'm dead. I'm dead. My body doesn't move.

I get a little claustrophobic. Yes. I don't know if I want to know that I'm dead for two hours. I'm unable to move.

My dead body that smells bad. The question remains though is does your spirit stay in the body during that time? Where do you... I think it comes out.

So it pulls out. Yep. Alright. Yes.

There we have it. I need to know your spirit pulled out. Alright. Speaking of Tim's joke, I have to give a disclaimer for the remainder of this episode.

We are going to be talking about Alistair Crowley. Who is... Crowley. I'm going to say Crowley.

Who is considered to be the wickedest man in the world by the British media back in the day. The reason I'm going to give a disclaimer right now is because once we start getting into some of the things this guy did and was involved in, this probably is not a safe... We'll listen out loud at work episode. Not safe for work slash kids.

Yeah. And probably not a safe episode for kids. Also put in your headphones if you're at work. This is definitely a headphone or listen alone in your car episode.

When I say listen alone in your car, that's with your windows up. Windows up preferably at three in the morning while parked outside of a church. No problem. I'm not a church.

You'll get struck by lightning. Alright. So let's talk about Alistair. Oh, good.

Yes. They're terrible shoes. Let's go. Let's talk about Alistair Crowley.

He was actually born in 1875. His gift name was Edward Alexander Crowley and he was born into a wealthy family where his father was actually kind of a hardcore... He was a priest. Right.

Well, I would say more than a priest. He's kind of an evangelical... Christian priest. Kind of a right winger at the time.

He was kind of a Christianity that didn't even do that. They were anti-fun. Dude was super religious. Yeah.

No pleasure whatsoever. Pleasure was evil. So I couldn't eat M&Ms? No.

Too much pleasure. Son of a bitch. You could pretty much work, wake up, do church stuff. Go to bed.

Repeat. Rinse or Pete. Oh, I'm... According to this guy's religion, I'm going to hell.

Yeah. No. Tim, would you like to lead our conversation? Sure.

So as you mentioned, he was born in 1875 and he actually devoted his life to the religion because he had respect for his father. Unfortunately, all that changed when he turned 11. His father had passed away and he started kind of denouncing the religion altogether and he would actually go out of his way during Bible study class to prove that there was inconsistencies in the teachings of the Bible to all the people in his class. He also, in a way of kind of like turning away from the religion, he would do some of the stuff that they thought was very immoral, like smoking, masturbating and having sex with prostitutes.

It was because of some of the stuff that he did. His mother actually started calling him the beast and he actually enjoyed that name and kind of took it on. Right. In fact, it was actually said that when he was a teenager, he actually had sex with the families made on his mother's bed.

Oh, that's right. It's kind of a... almost kind of a stick to his mom kind of thing. He really hated his mom.

He really did. Yeah. He also hated his name. He actually, like I said, he was born Edward Alexander Crowley and he decided that Alexander was not a name.

He particularly liked. Alex wasn't a name. He liked Ed. Wasn't very, yeah.

He just thought all the themselves were too tough. That's the master of evil, very big worst. My name is Ned. Ned the Overlord of Satan.

That doesn't really work. No it doesn't. We have to go with Alistair, which I guess you were saying, Tim. It's Cait like for Alexander.

Which actually sounds more menacing. But yeah. Alyssa, how could you be called the wickedest man in the world name is Hymanic, Alex. Not to make fun of people named Alex, but I mean, Alistair does sound more menacing and more sinister than Alexander.

Hello, I will be your cult leader from Ned. Again, that's a fine name. It just doesn't strike fear. If everyone was named Ned, we love you Ned.

We're not being confronted Edward, Ned, Alex, Alexander, Al, any of that. It just doesn't sound as... It's a diminutive of a name, and when you're wanting to be the master of evil, you don't have a diminutive name. You don't have a powerful name.

I would change my name to something more sinister like that after being kicked out of school for contracting gonorrhea from a prostitute. I don't know how many people get kicked out of high school for contracting gonorrhea from a prostitute. Now they're probably not so much, but he did that. And it was around when he turned 20 is when he decided to change his name to Alistair.

So after he was kicked out of basically high school, again, keeping in mind his family is very wealthy. I don't know where they got their wealth from, considering he's dad as a preacher. Those pubs. His family, his father had public houses, not drinking establishments, sandwiches, everything.

It was described kind of like a Starbucks kind of environment where people would come and do that. They made all of their money, having a lot of these public houses set up around London. Well that answers that question then. I was just wondering where and there it is.

And because they had the money, Alistair actually attended Cambridge College. And for the most part, I'm going to use my air quotation finger share. He's a relatively normal student. Right?

And where he wrote poetry, he enjoyed literature. And he actually was really into mountain climbing. He actually planned some mountain climbing expeditions, which he later actually did go on several mountain climbing expeditions. He's actually noted as a noteworthy climber who he actually focused on that solely on that instead of having sex with prostitutes in the name of Satan.

He actually probably would have been a noteworthy climber that we would have probably known today as somebody who climbed Everest kind of thing. That's one of the things that struck me. I thought if he had put his energy into good things, I mean, he was very talented and very intelligent. And, I mean, you look at some of the things he did, he wrote books and he wrote on these expeditions and all these things.

But he just went so bad. You can almost say the same thing about Hitler though. No, he can't. Hitler was a poet and he was an artist and had he put his efforts into the right things.

He probably thought he was... He thought a German comic. Mine comic. No, he thought he was doing something good for the cause that he believed in.

I mean, he actually brought Germany out of an economic crisis. Well, you know, with Crowley though, he knew he wasn't doing good stuff. He intentionally was going out of his way to be as... This is very true.

As he could. He was doing it intentionally. He embraced the name of the beast and he started calling himself that 660. The beast.

Yeah, the beast 666 or 66. The beast was kind of his own personal nicknames that he'd given himself. Yeah, touching back on the mountaineering. Part of the things that really shot him down in the mountaineering was they were on a climb and it was on the third highest peak, I think in the world as I remember.

And there was a big thing and there had been some disagreements and people left and there had been an avalanche and he didn't go and help them. And as a mountaineer, that is the number one responsibility that you have. And going with his lifelong deal of, I'm going to break all the rules. I don't care, I'm going to do what I want to do.

He didn't go and that actually took him out of that whole mountaineering community. It's actually documented. And we're kind of jumping ahead just a little bit. It was actually documented that when that happened.

They started the climb without him. Like you said, the avalanche happened. But it was said that he actually sat in the tent and drank tea while listening to them. Their cries were held where he basically listened to them die.

And that basically got him shunned out of that marrying. Nothing that would have been probably shunned. I'd say kidding. From his wheelchair.

Maybe he can't use the second most evil man in the world. So while he was in college, Crowley was noted for visiting both male and female prostitutes. And it was kind of noted that his visits to them were kind of borderline sadistic. I mean, it wasn't just like, hey, I'm going to go get my jollies by visiting a prostitute.

It was kind of weird ritualistic sadistic craft that he was doing with these prostitutes. I don't know how willing or unwilling the prostitutes were. In the research I had it, it wasn't really clear on that. Some of the things I read, I tend to believe that it was probably at times borderline, not of their choice.

Which wouldn't surprise me a bit. Because his whole kind of credo was due as you will. His team would say, I do what I want. I do what I want.

You're not the boss of me. And that was kind of Crowley's take on life. Oh no. Did you just compare me to Alistor Crowley?

No. No. Now, what's kind of interesting is Crowley almost led kind of a double life in a sense. He had all this weird occult stuff.

Like all through his college he was basically developing deeper and deeper into the cult. But he also kind of considered a normal career like he considered becoming a diplomat. You know, at one point I'll get into it a little bit later. He actually offered to become a spy during the First World War.

But when he went to Russia, there's an incident where basically he was accused of treason. And that kind of put an end to his diplomatic aspirations. So after that, Crowley started to write more and more about the futility of human endeavor. He basically thought that we were all wasting our time trying to live good lives and be good people.

And that we essentially just kind of do whatever we wanted, which is kind of what we were attached on. But Crowley actually began publishing erotic poems, a cult literature and books of his occult musings. Crowley's writings in his poems were so pornographic that he would have been arrested under obscenity laws except for he would actually print them abroad under pseudonyms so that they basically wouldn't arrest him. There's actually a poem that I'm not going to repeat it to.

Oh, I will. I don't know the whole poem, but it was about someone in clarion and her farts. That would be the one. And how he enjoyed sniffing her farts and the way they smelled.

While they were having sex. That's pretty gross. It's hot. So while this is going on, Crowley actually began searching out cult groups and he actually found one that was called the Golden Dawn.

Or the Golden Dawn. Thank you. Tell us about the word of the Golden Dawn, Tim. They did stuff.

So basically at this point, he had decided that he wanted to look into doing Black Magic. And he had searched, I think, for two years before he found this group. Right. I think he was tinkering on his own, but he kind of thought that maybe if he got involved in an actual cult group, he could learn some deeper, darker secrets of the occult.

So eventually he found this chemist named Julian Baker that was part of this order of the Golden Dawn and got him to join. The order was devoted to studying paranormal activity and marriage of the occult. And eventually Crowley hired a senior member of this group to be basically a living personal tutor for himself. So the dude while they were living together, they would experiment with ceremonies.

Oh my good lord, I can talk today. Ceremonial magic and ritualistic use of drugs. Very slowly. I don't know what people are going to find more entertaining.

The fact that I can't read or what we're actually talking about. Tim Rock, too, is not legal yet. Drugs are bad, okay. But yeah, I mean, he had this dude basically living with him and they just they experimented with drugs and then they just experimented with magic.

And quite frankly, given his history and why he behaved, I would not be surprised in the slightest if they had experimented with each other. And that kind of, as you'll hear, that was one of the base of his religion in a way was the sexual exploits. Right, that sex and magic were innately tied together was kind of part of what Crowley believed. In fact, there was an incidental talk about it a little bit later.

I don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves. Where that really clicked for him and it all came together. So while this is all going on, he continued to experiment with sex with prostitutes. And one of the higher level members of the Golden Dawn considered Crowley way too controversial and refused to allow him entry into the upper levels of the organization.

At this point, I think that's kind of what put him over the edge and kind of pissed him off the most about the order. He got extremely disappointed with the Golden Order and he actually accused them of just playing with magic and actually not actually doing real magic. Right, he wanted to go into like darker, deeper stuff than the Golden Order messed with. Now the Golden Order is interesting because it actually consisted of a lot of the literary celebrities of the day.

If you'll, Brom Stoker was a member of a- Oh, right, yeah, there was a- Brom Stoker? Brom Stoker? Brom Stoker? I'm sure he might have gone by Stoker when he was in the Golden Order.

But to sell- if you wanted to sell books, you probably had to go buy Stoker. Yeah, and Yates wasn't- I want to say Yates wasn't- There were several kind of big literary names that were members of this, but Crowley against that they were more or less tinkering with magic and weren't going as far as he wanted to go. He wanted to get into really deep dark black magic stuff which this order didn't really mess with. Yeah, the Order was kind of a hangout place for rich kids with nothing better to do.

So what was interesting is about this time was when Crowley went and started doing the mountaineering stuff full-bore where we get into the instant where he basically sat and listened to his mountaineering group die and didn't lift a finger he was busy drinking tea while listening for their cries for help that he chose to ignore. So Crowley went and used his fortune and bought a house in North Scotland to perform a ritual which was called the Abramelon. Now the Abramelon dates back to the 14th century and is a six month long ritual designed to allow the castor master demons. It's considered extremely dangerous.

Like one of the very first lines in the Abramelon is, don't do this ritual, it's really dangerous. Here it is, whatever you do, don't do it. Oh, is that the six month long ritual? Correct.

Yep, it has any had to do with fasting and waking up at early hours of the day. Like the spring of the morning, all the giddy was bread and water. Yeah, it's right. It had to be done a certain way if the ritual was done incorrectly or wasn't finished.

Basically these demons here were trying to summon what possessed him and they would use him to do whatever they wanted. Which I'm pretty sure they did. Yep, based on the rest of his life. I don't think he did it correctly.

No, he never finished it. He never finished it. He never finished it. That's what I mean.

He actually gave up on it and because really the doing this ritual was so arduous, it was considered harder than being like a monk because again you had to wake up at 3am to do certain rites. You had to eat red water and fast and it just sounds arduous at best. But for six months he just pure hell and so he tried it for several months, well not several, a few months and then said to hell with it, I'm not doing this anymore, just quit which is really, really bad. Well the interesting thing that I thought this house is that he bought is in or near Loch Mass, Scotland and they said that people to this day still didn't like going past the house.

You know they'll avoid it if it's all possible. Right, in fact I don't know everybody even lives there. I don't think so. It gets abandoned.

In fact there's two houses at Crowley long too. We'll talk to them about the one in Italy here in a minute. But that one's also abandoned. It's boarded up just because of the crap that happened in that particular home.

So I know at one point during the ritual, even during the day, like in broad daylight, the room that he was doing in the ritual was so dark he had all the candles. Oh yeah, as the ritual happened. It got so, yeah. And it was in the middle of the day.

I mean it wasn't like it was at night. I can't talk either. Got to dark. All fun games to talk about.

Alistair Crowley, nobody can talk about the calculate type. Yeah, well we all brought type 3s with us today apparently. So after he left his Scottish house, out of the Abramillon, he ended up moving to Paris, France where he started hobnobbing with high society. In the process he met Rose Kelly, who was actually set up for an arranged marriage basically.

Her and Crowley were like the perfect match. She was kind of doing naughty things. He's kind of doing naughty things and actually married the day after they met. For a time Crowley started doing like love poems.

He got away from poems about orgasms and farts and was actually doing- Like a 12 year old kid. Perpetually 14. But he started doing like love poems and they ended up going on their honeymoon to Egypt. And he led her into the kinch chamber, one of the great pyramids.

I believe they snuck in at night where he had like a grimoire where he basically attempted to summon a demon inside the great pyramid with his new wife, Rose Kelly. After they left the pyramid, apparently I guess nothing happened and he was kind of disappointed. Well and he was trying to show off to her how great a magician he was and how cool he was and his balloon got a little deflated. Yes, it was balloon.

Well that's because he didn't have a bag back then. But basically they ended up going back to their room and Rose basically started going to trance and started telling him that they were waiting for him. She started talking about Horace was wanting him to do something. So Crowley ended up taking her to a museum the next day that she'd never been to and started kind of walking her through the museum and she just kind of went past off and then she- Because he was actually a little- he didn't believe her because he had actually kind of studied some of the gods of you know and some of the mythology of Egypt and she didn't know much about it.

So he kind of didn't believe her. He thought she was making crap up so that's why he took her to the museum to kind of test and see if she was for real. Right. She ended up going right next to us at your horse and she kind of freaked out.

I was like that's him. That's the god who's talking to me. And he was kind of shocked because again she didn't know who he was and but she was able to like point him right out. It was shortly after this.
