Cruise Ship Association Want Govt To Build Safe Cleaning Facilities

from Holiday Breakfast · host Newstalk ZB

The cruise industry wants New Zealand to provide more options for ships to be washed. Last season 11 ships were given notices barring them from sensitive marine areas because their bottoms were too dirty. Cruise Association Chief Executive Jacqui Lloyd says currently ships have to get hard-to-reach areas, cleaned manually by divers 12 nautical miles from our shore. She told Tim Dower that they are seeking a better solution. Lloyd says they want a place where they can be cleaned safely, closer to shore.   LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
