Cthulhu Eternal: Darkfield – Part 1

from RPPR Actual Play · host Ross Payton

A team of content creators who cover cryptids on social media receive the tip of a lifetime, a photo of a monstrous giant on a suburban street at night. It appears real, so they travel to the neighborhood where the photo was taken. The team quickly finds out there's far more than just the giant. Deformed animals stalk the neighborhood, while the residents of the street all appear to be unstable or in the throes of madness. An abandoned junkyard nearby has an infamous history. Learn the meaning of Darkfield as the team finds far more than just a story, but a nightmare waiting to consume them all. This scenario is available on the RPPR Patreon! It features: Cover art and Entity design by Trevor Henderson, creator of Sirenhead. Four new unnatural monsters statted out in %d100/Cthulhu Eternal for use in any percentile horror RPG system. Multiple story hooks to handle everything from trained teams of hunters to civilians stumbling upon the unnatural. Seven unique NPC residents with secrets and stories to tell. Some are threats, some are victims, and some can help the PCs. Who can you trust? Handouts including the Darkfield Memo, a document written by a mysterious organization that reveals the secret weakness of the Entity. Three pregen player characters statted out for Cthulhu Eternal: A team of cryptid hunters who blog and make videos for an Internet fanbase. There'll be no previews, so I'll be finding out whether the material works at the same time as the audience does. If I crash and burn, it'll be a long night for everybody. I thought it might be quite interesting to make a podcast about the process I'm going through to make the show while I'm doing it. The podcast will conclude with recordings of the actual show. What will that be like? Nobody knows! Maybe there'll even be a twist ending. If you want to come and see the show live, you can get tickets here: http://www.thegulbenkian.co.uk/events/theatre/2015/December/2015-12-06-oliver-double.html Explicit
