Welcome to Comedian Stock and Sports Presents Comedian Stock and Baseball and this is a very special one. This is our Chicago Cubs 2016 World Series recap and Joyous Celebration Podcast Edition. Mike Brinek's sign with me as always. Yes.

Dude, we're going to get emotional. We're going to get excited. If you know those of you who have followed us this entire season, you know that we were fair on his baseball fans, but we definitely slant hard towards our Chicago Cubs. And what are you chose to do this podcast?

I don't know how coincidentally it was. I thought about this. I went to spring training this year. I wrote about the Cubs all year.

I podcasted with you all year. It was in the back of my mind that this was absolutely possible. Or we probably wouldn't have done any of this. Right?

And there was just so many little things along the way, whether it was going to open day, running to each other, portellos, down and down, and down. Yeah. And I followed the Cubs around. I went to every cell point of all, I was there.

I made a good point of how I came to be there. They were like, you're a fish. Yeah, right. They were in my fish concert.

I sold art in the parking lot. Sit for a show every time. Yeah, man. You haven't heard until it's an 18 minute song.

Okay, listen though. How often have we referenced our Go Cubs group on the podcast over the year? Almost every podcast. We referenced how we got this great text thread going.

I was the guy who was on the Cubs World Series preview first. How are you? I'm doing very well and glad I was off, but only two games when I yelled Cubs in five several times in our World Series preview. It's three times in five.

But hey, Cubs in, I don't care how many games it took. Agreed. Yes. Even though Cubs in six, we were off.

Which is fine, we're all happy to be off as long as the results good. But Brennan was also part of our WGN-TV segment we did. I wrote with a writing credit for the three of us. Basically showed up there, and they were like, hey, what are you guys going to be fun?

I'm going to go and have a smart, you're going to be great. But now we did that. group who's part of the text messaging through other we started probably run on the all-star break of the 20th of season is that we all have nicknames brady want to tell the names of a friend and is brandy McGowan's or brandy gowgows and you're bridal of course yeah you're the you are red mamba and the red mamba and right here we have this is the cutest baby oh I'm the cutest baby mad why are everybody yeah this is the first time I think we've ever been physically together that I can think yeah I feel maybe a portillo's we were together and we meet you know we went to the angels game yeah but Joe is in the out show but Joe is still there we drove separately to the angels game we were all at the same stadium that was the closest we got and trying to get us together for a playoff game and why I got close several times because why is a bar guy I'm a bar guy too but with the baby on the way I wanted to cut some corners and save some money to not work as much as I'd like to we came so close and tell me let's go to I want to get a couple of takes from Dwyer before we get into the world series what was it like watching the Cubs beat the Los Angeles Dodgers in an LA bar oh first of all it was great revenge because I watched Dempster shit the bed there in 0 8 and there's a bunch of Dodger fans who kept jumping up in front of the screen and being real fucking dick so I've had this beef that was when Dempster famously walked what eight guys and three innings if I remember he got off of that game there was the James Loney Granth slam in like what the third inning I was game one of the NL CS and I just brutal I knew it was fucking over my we actually I was with a friend I was gonna name drop but when I'm friends anymore but anyway I know who it is but we actually ended up leaving and I had to leave because it was my ride but I was not I don't like leaving games and I've never left games no matter how far we're down sure blue I mean that would make you the antithesis of a Dodgers fan yes which but but it was so I've kind of held a real fucking anger with the Dodgers from that season because also they were real dicks when I went to the games and so to have to win in that bar no Dodger's name is that's it that was the thing what we talked about it on our last podcast but we can talk about it again those are horrible fan base and I'm very happy that we beat them in six the way we did it's a fan base full of beach balls and it failed at the wave and Brendan I want to you know I mentioned following the team around in California how badly Brendan do you want to find that guy we went to game three the Cubs lost next innings was a thriller to the loss of 13 the guy who screaming 1908 where are you some of a bitch I want to find that guy I want to scour the Internet I want to go back up to San Francisco and look for that piece of shit that guy wearing a khakis his mom picked out yeah to game three of the NLDS and a giant scarf a fire call yeah that goes fun 60 degrees and it's a scarf one of my favorite things about the Cubs being successful this year and going to the World Series because I watched the World Series game with with Joe and Brendan and after the celebration and after we you know cried and hugged there was an airing of grievances there was just a general and then this motherfucker said this to me yeah they come out when we be cursed out of good to win the pennant yeah that was we've been wronged so often it really was and that's why kind of why are if you know my me aging a little bit you're kind of a little bit you're kind of a little bit you know I'm 47 let this be our first of this you could to air your grievances first there's anyone out there any particular name and I'm going to go after them come to close it's been a few days now this is Saturday now you guys will be listening to tomorrow I haven't called out any fans that I've wanted to because to me it's all about the Cubs and it still is I know I didn't want to be that person because you see some people right away they're like Cubs won suck a carnal span suck it sucks to me that means you're thinking about those teams I never thought about them which I think that's got hurt them even more that's like finding out oh you got dumped and you don't think about me anymore I don't even care I forgot what's existed until I saw some post from salty white sucks fans yeah a lot of my grievances it's weird because because I lived in LA now for 15 years I've had so many bad experiences at dr stadium that sometimes my hatred for them rivals the Cardinals and the white Sox just because it's been more like because I've had to fucking sit in their bullshit and so like I mean I can remember a guy who just was like thought I was wearing a Celtic shirt because I had a shamrock on it but it was a Wrigley Field shirt and the guy was like what the fuck is that shirt I was like it's Wrigley Field and he's like oh fuck you and Wrigley and I was like why I'm just here but it's just like this little fucking thing and I like we got we got people in our faces tell us to go home oh yeah there's like a friend I got that at Home Depot some guy just like it walked down the aisle was like go home I was at a grocery store buying three home run-in frozen pizzas for World Series Game 1 that's routes it was it's sprouts it was this route and Eagle Rock and a Dodger fan saw me walk in wearing my mark Grace t-shirts and 1989 great sure and at least champions hat and he I got the look from him and I was like oh this is this right here's Dodger fan and he was standing in line of the checkout I went and got a pizza and then made it to the checkout right behind him and he just turned him and said where do you guys come from Chicago yeah you know he's not aware of the city he doesn't know I feel like the people I need to where from here are like rare you know it started mean and then it turned into the man was about to give up on the Dodgers forever and like he was like I just don't understand we were up to one and he like he started off being an asshole and then fell back to I just need you to make me feel better about how badly this feels you have 80 years on us yeah 80 literal years on the Chicago Cubs that's generations my grandfather was born lived his whole life and died of lung cancer having never seen his favorite team win it all the Dodgers won in 88 my but my thing is and an 81 yeah go ahead so I'm not gonna tell a neighbor at the grocery store fuck you wait 60 years so it's like hey you know you got you're getting out from under a lot of bad contracts it's not a great free agency here but they can probably make some moves they have money they got a smart guy in charge I don't really feel for the Dodgers too much they're fan base annoys me I think I mean I'm not some really good Dodger fans you know native LA Los Angeles what is it Angelina's people from Los Angeles anyway and I could get it a little bit because they're probably thinking about my tongue it's over on the outside or so much but I feel like you're growing up here you gotta understand that's the culture of it your city what pumps me out and Matt you made reference to these Dodger fans were like over the field trip I feel like Dodger fans so much like LA being a movie town all their fans are acting like what they think of fans supposed to be like they think fans are supposed to be obnoxious to the enemy to assholes and just uneducated and just like rude and shit like that they think it's supposed to be the wave in beach balls see I don't that's the thing is people should talk me and I'd be like okay yeah I'm like I don't do this because I'm like because we're gonna crush you like I just knew it so I was like all right I'm gonna let the Cubs do all my talking for me and they did very fucking loudly that's me sums up thank you Dwyer that's me sums up with the best part about this year and even last year was the fact that the culture has changed and I remember standing outside the improv comedy club you know in Melrose Hollywood and some guy who's even a jerk you just saw was when I come saying it comes when my response was of course this was like just during the regular season we were like 40 and 18 or something at one point you know I mean and it was nice to be able to say that kind of have this feeling to it and now that we've won the World Series and the weight is off our shoulders and we could act like fans that we should have acted like you know I mean instead of being the fans that are always waiting for the other shoot of fall and always waiting for the here we go again moment we could finally like watch this team and not be freaking out like remember when I lost it on people on Facebook and game 4 we made that amazing comeback against San Francisco there are people who turned out they came in the fourth inning because the Cubs went down five to one or five to two early and everyone of the fourth inning was already bitching but great we got quite a game five this game's overall that kind of nonsense my thing my thing is also that is not the only thing we get to get rid of with this World Series win the just the the sappy everyone wants to tell you their life story and there's like thirty five hundred people have a book about growing up a Cubs fans it's like it's all right that's over now we get to just win a bunch of games and watch baseball it doesn't just it can just be baseball hold on though it's it doesn't hurt that they were down to one to the Dodgers it doesn't hurt that they were down three one to the Indians who came back in the eighth inning and the Chicago Cubs who constantly are blowing it throughout history but there's my point it up yeah I was my point about the whole history thing was and I said if you guys are Facebook friends me I'll tweet it about too I was on a WCA you which is like a local station Chicago last year and I had advice for Cubs fans where I said stop being that fan because what happens in 2015 does not relate to 1969 doesn't relate to this other stuff the only thing that is relatable is that they were the same hats yeah you know the hat hasn't changed really the jerseys have changed I feel like it's a little blue hat with a red sea and I don't understand you know I'm like typical Cubs I'm like no that's not typical this is a different set of human beings and I hate this stupid sports fan notion of well what we did that's why I couldn't stop I couldn't say it enough I hated the even-year Giants shit yes I did to because it's like that's not analysis that's that's Westeros you know what I want to say to that guy could scream in you know I want to make believe shit you know I want to say to that 1908 guy could scream in 1908 to us I want to find him and just scream 2016 hashtag believe in these nuts okay okay it's not like a better tweet in my head when I was not probably better read better read better read on paper it's delightful I'm sure I I also I kind of flew past your point Mike and sorry about that but I'm like I'm now at a point of processing this whole thing where it's just like I am very excited for everyone to hate us because this this core is so good so young and under contract for so long that I believe it was it was someone from baseball perspective tweeted here my picks for world's most likely World Series winner 2017 Cubs 2018 Cubs 2019 Cubs 2020 labor stoppage 2021 Cubs you know and it's insane to step back and think about what's coming in the future and I'm still in a point of enjoying this so much I haven't even watched the parade yet because I want to keep watching highlights I don't want it to be over I like you you're doing your spreading out your Halloween candy I blew my wad I watched the parade live I had to see it but I've definitely been spacing a lot of stuff because there's still so much content coming our way I was watching I was listening to podcast of Chicago sports radio from one network I listen to the other you sent Brandon a lot of fantastic clips and you know there's more and more cool montage videos coming our way you know it didn't help make it real was that video a few years ago where it was a fake video of the Cubs winning the World Series yeah video game I'm gonna be the show right I'm gonna be the show 2012 commercial and it is a great commercial and someone took fan reactions our friend comedian Andy Sell is one of the fan reaction someone grabbed it's a compilation on YouTube and it is bookended by that 2012 commercial that's now become real so it's cool now but I hated that commercial when it first came out yeah so seeing all this stuff seeing a blue and red team pile on each other winning the World Series still feels movie-ish yeah the whole thing with dumb movies let's I want to talk about the series or should we talk about let's I hate to tell you guys this but the whole series was directed by Stanley Oh well done Stanley no murder in it surprising for close though there's close yeah should we talk briefly about the series because I mean it comes down to game seven I almost wonder if we should have like another director if we should almost like Tarantino where well it's hoping we could I was thinking we talk about where we all were during that tenth inning and what was going through our head yeah and then we could rewind throughout the series that we should make or we could take a game by game one all the way up to game seven it's tough as I was let's just I'm gonna go we can do a quick yes or no real quick we can do a yes or no I'm gonna do a yes or no no no wonder I'm gonna start off the question and I'll do I you go first and the past to bright on the McGowan Matthew Dwyer what you're gonna do Matthew Sean Dwyer what a fucking good Irish line you're gonna do you cry yes or no no I was too stunned to stun the cry okay well I hope it hits you maybe what he's right when they won I cried a gazillion times I just I was surrounded by people I'd known for like since I was a teenager what did you do I jumped up and down I screamed and I hugged a guy directly to the right of me who is a Phillies fan okay all right well I was gonna ask how many times over under you crab you said it's really the over I was gonna say I don't know how many times I probably well I've cried like at least two to three solid cries and about a 10 to 12 weeks okay I gotta get hold as close right just really talk to Mike for those of you listening to the pockets the first time we're using to Mike's because I forgot the other two I don't have my bag I came outside I'm talking hi five and I opened my backpack and so we're passing the mics around we're doing it that way which I feel like it's going great so far I probably need to tell you but I like honesty because a couple of series and yeah I cried I think right is it happen is it happened there's a video of me that I'll have to rip off a Facebook and put on Twitter Instagram or something where I'm just screaming fuck yeah and don't nuts but I'll say that I'm gonna say that let's let's jump to bridal to you cry and then we'll get to Brendan and then we'll go around and tell our temping it all happened seemingly so fast and my reaction went so long that I would have to even I was with Brendan so I might have to ask him this part we were here in this apartment to you and your wife and my wife yeah I couldn't deal with anybody else that makes sense and I knew that I could deal with it Brendan I knew I could deal with it with my wife but not it I mean I and I hadn't talked to you but that would have been the only acceptable maybe Fritz James Fritz but I I hugged I jumped up and down and hugged Brendan and my wife I did a lot of maniacal laughing and I did call my father and sob but here's the thing it's all it's all been like real short tears like I watched the parade and when Rizzo introduced his Ross I started to cry but it wasn't like a gusher so I know that that's all still in me yeah yeah it's been a lot of I vomited that night I'll tell you that much a lot of a lot of warnings and not the actual quake yeah so what happened in this apartment was the final out happened and I I don't know if it was just how Fox covered it or I thought that Michael Martinez was much faster than he actually it's a tough play yeah he said it's a play and in my head was like well Martinez is a defensive play and he came in as a pinch runner earlier in the series I don't really know that much about his game and so I thought this might be bang bang he might be safe and they might have a runner at third and so once Rizzo caught it and put the ball in his back pocket then I realized it was real Rizzo putting the ball in his back pocket is when I realized the cup's it actually when it came you were already on me since you two hooking me and jumping up and down he hugged me before I went on his work which he I'm that totally makes sense you shouldn't be upset about that because the comes down between you two is huge but real quick before I'm gonna go right back to you though YouTube since you watch together I want you to explain actually go to the whole game right now you two then why will go and then I'll let everyone know what I was doing yes I did cry because Brido went to one corner of this apartment in his kitchen called his dad and started crying I then went to the other corner and called my dad and started crying I also want to make an excuse for myself for hugging you first because we were physically embracing through the most of the bottom of the table standing arm in arm for the entire 10th inning like an inch away from the TV because we decided it was good luck here's what I'll say about the game I thought everything was going well everything was great I questioned Madden yanking Hendrix after that walk hold hold the Madden okay I think I went into the whole game I wanted your feeling all right now you know what though so I was nervous so my point is I guess we could talk about that right now because I'm gonna say this and it's something you don't even want to say because it's all about the jubilation how excited we are the Chicago Cubs are World Series champions yes I'm not the one that we do now we have a one since 2016 you know I mean like right it's amazing it feels good so many people who have talked shit about the cubs all those people who have said never I remember kept saying never never gonna never and I would always be a couple of things they never like how is that a logical thought your brain and that's all over so I don't even want to get on Madden but I'm gonna get here to his gone by man horrible game he had he had terrible he had a major I love him I'm gonna say that's a bad game he was bad I'm gonna say this he had a bad month and the worst night of that bad month was game seven of the World Series you could really argue he had a bad month as a man I mean there was stuff like not pinch hitting for David Ross with the basis loaded in one out bringing in Kyle Schwab right there I don't I don't understand you haven't scored any runs against that team in days a lot of stuff I wasn't well about his decisions that for the entire playoffs to be honest my thing with him during the regular season was he always got too cute with the bullpen and I figured it was because we had a gigantic lead and he could be cute and even said in post games like well you know if we were only up by a gamer to I didn't like his face during the game either he looked scared to me he was I think he kept anyone choked it was him the players didn't I think he had a choking performance I hated his mind and he just kind of couldn't get off of it and even and he actually did get off it because he said he was bringing Lester for cleaning he didn't even run around which was so stupid because Hendrix was cruising and was screwed over by a place that was a strike that was easily straight up to the borderline that goes both ways the replay show this was not in the corner there was this was in the box you know I mean it was not like dead center but it was in the box it wasn't touching the bottom line or the outline I went back and I looked at some of his double-ray teams playoff runs and I feel like he he was managing this remembering things that went wrong for that double-ray they were up seven and nothing on the Red Sox in game five of 2008 so when we're up seven nothing in that one game and Chapman's in for two and a half innings or two and a third okay that makes sense I still think he's not mad but he was mad mad and everything was up seven runs against the Red Sox late in that game they lost yeah I do think they made a couple nice moves early on I think moving schwarver up to the two holes of genius move in the giant series playing him at all for playing him all you're putting him on the roster and starting yeah yeah there's a lot of things you could credit for him I just think really he had a bad game in his hand in the bullpen was bad he did great with the pitch hitter chess match with what's his name against the Giants manager and also also this he also had his seventh and eighth in guys both fall apart on him yeah I think Ryan also hurt I don't and stroke we're both in here I never came back from those injuries okay more either so gummy and Edwards kind of emerged yeah but now I'm gonna be a string pitcher so you think Jason Hamel gets dealt well we have an item which I think you have to pick up though my dad is positive we're getting Kenley Janssen really I would take I would take Janssen and harpy you talk to your boy yet which boy you're you're the one that knows the insider stuff oh my nephew oh yeah he doesn't work for a citizen anymore okay so he's not so insidery but he could probably find out okay I find out all right get your beer of your report to wire I would be I would be more than happy with Jensen I think one thing I brought Jason Hamel's because his option is only 10 million it's a $2 million buyout or it's $12 million with a $2 million buyout so basically an eight to $10 million pickup for a guy who won 15 games at a mid-three bit and I don't know what his war was he three wars I'm like yeah but either way his numbers were good enough where if you get a three war or four what was Hamel okay but let's go back let's quickly tell you who I thought you're talking I thought you know why pictured it's dumb it's grim I pictured fucking grim yeah grim was a starting picture first now I'm just saying real quick is options so cheap but yeah they'll pick it up and maybe trade yeah I didn't realize that was the situation with his option yeah that makes more sense yeah but when I was gonna go back to is game 7 you and I were alternating brido who's turn is it to be the nervous crazed maniac it's so weird to me that we were never both doing it at the same time and yeah because you and I were seeing different outcomes from the same situation I was like Lester coming in I like Lester coming in I hated Lester leaving with only one guy on base I I want to say this about that about that game to is that for me as an old-school thinking Cubs fan that is trying to suppress that person there was no better person to be the goat of that game than a role as chairman he was a rental he wasn't a real cub anyway we all kind of fucking had to deal with his off-the-field baggage he's a pre-medana Madden is he a pre-medana I thought he was a good team and I can't come in with oh yeah he said he didn't prefer not to be dead and I thought he was gutsy against six to me he was amazing game six pitching that way he did again five five five again five yeah and the thing is I am very glad he was not the picture on the mound that was I am to but I'm just saying I appreciate his efforts in game and game five and for that fucking rain delay he probably goes out for the 10th 17 minutes maybe you might be right about that back out there I know that's true that's shocking a little later in the game to and I was not okay with Lester coming in where he did I was mad at Lester went out early though I thought he took Hendricks out way too early Hendricks was looking great I know our steamer's one shaky third after Lester's garbage at the top he did settle down and get it yeah he was good in the first second the third was shaky they scored a run and they will open first started up then then he settled down and looked really good they cut to a run in Frank Thomas and even the P ros are like I don't understand that and I think that's why the Indians were able to jump and score some runs one thing I do know about major league baseball is you don't make moves that make the other team happy yeah I said the other team was happy that Hendricks got pulled and the other team was happy that Lester got pulled there you did two things they were like okay we can't let's record a hundred this is great brand someone else that's what hitters love I you know if you're getting owned you want to see someone else there's also the the hobby by as but that I didn't understand what's so terrible the reason the reason the reason that I was happy with Lester coming in is because it's an Indians team that has little ability to hit velocity and left handers give them trouble I was happy with him but the next day yeah I know I understand I understand I I wasn't thrilled that Hendricks was leaving but I got why Madden was game six is when I think he really started to decide this every pitches do or die and he didn't get out of that mode he was in that mode from middle game six and stated until the end of I know the announcer's were really talking a lot about Chapman pitching those 20 pitches he did in the in game six you know and I was like well he would have left earlier but stroke wasn't warmed up yet and I was fine with that to me it's like I know we had a big enough lead but you go to the guy who's the hardest hit in baseball right there they see you have to win that game yeah if you don't win game six there's no game exactly I the problem I had with hundreds was like you could give you six or seven and he was starting to lock back in and Hendricks is a guy that doesn't give up a lot of home runs either so you're the five one lead I just assumed the more that they saw Chapman the more they could time that yeah cuz he's essentially a one-page pitcher you could find like I was I was yelling throw slider I was yelling throw slider he wasn't makes a lot of Davis at bat I was yelling throws like he was choked up a foot on the bat now where were you watching Dwyer where you where you were you read a bar yeah I was at a bar I started because everyone criticizing those calls at the bar to where people just more like it's worried about the score I think people were more worried about the score okay I mean it was a bar that was probably 200 cubs and my friends no I went to Rocco's on Ventura my friends know the owners so they just hooked it up it was like packed with you couldn't even hear the TV was closed for a shoot that night really that had pissed off a lot I know a lot of people that was like their regular spot and they kept asking me besides you matter of fact I think you're in one picture where the people behind you I knew like you yelled him I'm like I know that's my friend Maris on it's Annie and they just happen to be next to you but they didn't know that you know you know I mean if somebody else joke you guys go ahead a great talk I don't know why they would have done that who wouldn't yell my name randomly offered a bar but uh yeah see I I all right let you to finish where I want these two to give me their 10th thing story we talked in game we'll get the more in-game stuff as we go along and I guess let's adjust the bias thing real quick so I'm so excited about this it's we're gonna be a little bit all over the place for those you don't know bias this is in the ninth inning with runners on with what happened was Hayward was on base and stole second on air advanced to third yeah so there's one out but there was already two strikes on bias I think the count was already full what is his decision or was that I don't think so because he talked to the base go that was for Matt and he's keep the third base came down and talk the first coach came down and talked to bias so that was a call from Madden um I just don't like it a game where he's already hit a home run and look better at the plate I don't get me wrong by is the three four games before really the whole world series looked awful yeah looked like the guy who came up in 2014 and struck out of the back and laid off some of those sliders and also going opposite way on that home run yeah I mean he looked better at the plate look worse on the field though you know really bad game right away to one characteristic errors and I don't know I would not have anyone else in the world that second base if I you know I think he's the man the first year I don't blame him slipping is that's true that's not entirely within his control the second error the botched he could just take his eye off a little bit I mean he didn't he wanted to catch bear hand fired over and he just missed the bear hand catch and so that was that was like oh my god what is happening right now I kept trying to be like no this team over comes over and they did no no under and runs were scored on those errors he had but the blunt to call a blunt with two strikes for a guy who I don't think has to sacrifice all year he is a great buntie for hit and it's not too strikes on it just makes no sense to go for that right there because it's like oh well where he's gonna strike out well he did strike out because bunting with two strikes goes down to strike out when you don't execute it also got their throwing sliders away and in the dirt when they've got two strikes on him the entire series and you ask him to set up for a bunt in that situation finding if it was a 97-mile in our festival I couldn't believe it I can believe it through that pitch that was his pitch even waiting for the entire series and they had him laying down a bunch and he's a great fast but she was too strikes shall look shall look so hitable in the ninth by the way that I was excited everyone other pictures look tired and hitable except Alan Allen modus down but Andrew Miller you could as much as were given mad at you could be given for you were you were right you called in the last series or two series ago another last year's in the Toronto series you said Miller and Alan what they've been doing and as long as clover is not sustainable and it wasn't Miller look tired I said about Kershaw in in Jamson I was saying for this one three days rest clover is not a good he's not Corey clover yes he got rocked by the Blue Jays on three days rest so when we faced him in game four I was like got this yeah we're good now he looked pretty good in that game we got one one off them early and then we just kind of we hit the ball a little bit sharply a little bit better and a series of our opens the game with a fucking bomb where he runs backwards the second base and I'm like what you do is you hear his story about we did that no he said when he touched first he realized he didn't look back at the first base coach he didn't high-five the first base guys when he stepped on or his teammates so he stepped up first got one two steps turned back to look at them like let's walk and go which I love I love that in his mind he's like oh wait I didn't look back to my buddies so I guess such a cool camaraderie I guess the tenth inning after the rain delay mostly it was just us cheering a bunch of hits and they scored two runs which they desperately ended up needing and then we just started getting closer and closer to the TV screen yeah and for me I calmed down a lot when they got out of the ninth when Jammin got got out of the bottom of the ninth I use okay it's gonna be okay because they seem tied they're fine that's how I felt when it got tied I never quit we that's how I felt game six I woke up that morning I was like we're gonna win today like there was no more than the roses that I've had my entire life I was like we're doing this and I did that game seven I woke up I was like we're gonna win game six is what we all needed before that and look it's the most exciting game seven of all time this was probably the best World Series that I ever remember watching in my lifetime and the game six was the game you we needed as fans that one sided we kicked their ass Brian hitting that bomb off in the first inning on a hanging curve ball and some Russell your hands and Russell by the way let all of the bay a playoffs with RBI's I know it's a step in the down and having six and by the third inning is not gonna hurt that helps I mean and if you look at there's several players that if you looked at their entire playoff run kind of does match the regular season really you can make your case Anthony Richard workman world series MVP I can make a case for you I can make a case the highest opacity great events over fantastic to by the way I don't know if I can tell you guys this with at least 50 played appearances in the postseason the highest ops of all time for postseason is Lou Gehrig number two is Babe Ruth number three is Kyle Schorber that is correct I mean can we talk about Kyle Schorber for more than a few seconds what a player and you mentioned like baseball prospectus was it saying like the Cubs they predicted comes in that world series next five four five years or whatever like that because the core is so strong to me the core got stronger during this season I am so confident Wilson Contreras being a great catcher for the next few years he's still a little rougher on the edges I think it's usually a part of the world series experience by age 23 that's amazing to I can see as an Russell finally turn the corner a little bit where look at these are gonna be a three something hitter but a guy who gets to I do I do I do I do very like and started it yeah but very like and with about 25 to 90 himself see a guy who's okay all he had a grand slam in the world series he had home runs a back-of-back games in Los Angeles he a lot of power to me wrong he he already can field he's that's not going anywhere for a very long time but all he has to do is hit with some consistency which I think he will second half was pretty good until September you horrible September because you know what I was he got home on our BI happy he finished with a 21 home runs which is a lot for 22 year old shorts but 93 or 95 95 so I think he was kind of thinking I get 25 and 100 impressed a little bit which happens we saw Brian Preston who's trying to get 100 I see him for even a little bit when he's trying to get to 40 this year but you add Shwarburn Contreras to a full-time mix that next year yeah it only gets stronger this team it really is incredible and bias every year our bias more full-time basis next year I think Zobras becomes your Swiss Army knife the way bias was this year I think Zobras goes to be in your second right field left field you know type of guy even though when he signed with us he was like I kind of wanted to play one position it's at the point where it's like we want a World Series and do bad now you know what I mean sorry but what I wanted to get into next all right you two you two are told about your ninth inning into the Rangel experience do I are you tell yours and then I'll I'll go into mine but before you start Dwyer short leading off of the base it I'll put on morals tagging up from first a second we'll probably go down as the most overlooked thing of the world series I know you did I'm saying the media and people you're decking up and they'll be network broke that down for about 20 minutes I'm hopefully I'm wrong because it could have been viewed as a quote-unquote mistake that ball drops because it was deep he should be at third base but instead he you know watched it was like I know where it's landing yeah I mean I'm not saying the genius he might be but like as far as the base running play goes that was fucking huge that was fucking hit again today they were talking about everybody was hyping up to Indians base running but Bill James just came out with his your interview thing the Cubs are better base runners and they get credit for getting an extra base and that ended up winning them the game an amazing game running bases Brian was fantastic tagging up on that one ball that didn't look deep enough to tag up and I'm like I'm going to say that's like game seven he's going it was because of how Davis approached the ball that he knew that he could do it because he could see that Davis was not going to be in a position to make a strong throw home he saw his flat footed and got it yeah because I don't think he thought Davis would I think Davis Davis didn't think he would go right you know I mean Davis kind of even has a right you see him catches oh shit he's going and then the hit and run where Rizzo doubled off of Andrew Miller down the line and Bryant was taken out this at his top seat was 20 miles an hour at that I mean he was Bryant is one hell of an athlete this guy is rookie of the year it's gonna win MVP in a World Series Champion in his first two seasons I mean easily the best draft pick of my Cubs lifetime and he's so gorgeous you're right bridal are you're right bridal are you're right or take us through your ninth inning through the rain delay the emotions the ups and downs what you were thinking and all that good stuff I'll tell you right now I had a lot of fucking liquor in there what was the drink of choice well I started the game off at home and then I had my Phillies friend who's my neighbor I drove no but my wife my wife making a lot of noise and my wife and this guy my friend were talking a lot and I was like getting really aggravated so I kept sneaking off to the kitchen and taking pops off the vodka bottle I'm not proud of this but I was just getting really frustrated and then we went to the bar and then a bunch of friends of mine bought me those really those like gigantic mugs of beer like because I texted a bunch of people to get me beer get me beer they got me like a few of them from different people so by the seventh inning I was the kind of a mess just drunkenly but like I said like when when the game became tied I slid off my chair and like landed on my ass on the floor not because I was drunk because I was just like it was that old cub slipped the old cub fan mentality slipped in for a minute and I was I got so close to being in that same place and I just get to tell myself no that's exactly I mean I put my head I tell you guys I believe so many times yes and it was just I don't know if it's called a projection but I didn't mean it no but I wanted I was trying to tell myself I did believe it it happened to me so many times I know it's a different team logically I can talk myself out of it but holy fucking shit when Rajai Davis hits that home run it's just every single thing that's ever happened to me as a cub fan all rolled into one that yeah I picked myself like I did I spent like a maybe a quarter of a second with my head my hands and I was like I'm not doing this like I was like nope and I'm gonna enjoy the rest of this game and we're gonna win I just knew it what was that look for bridal just gives weird look sometimes I'll be honest with you sometimes I'll be like I'll say something wrong I had this weird memory where I was drunk to the cloud looked like a why and I got a good news and I looked up in the cloud is like yes and I had the face there was like me being like I remember being a hundred percent sure during the rain delay that they were gonna win like that's the weirdest I've ever felt where I was like they're absolutely doing this I felt stupid magical thinking also but I just I don't know well I prayed a lot to and I know that helps a lot and I'm just talking about God a lot in the rally so I think we both knew that's always the creatures kid so was also World Series MVP and a great guy I don't know if you saw this video floating around after the Cubs got home all his neighbors he was in Northside he was by Lincoln Lodge which you know is a cool neighborhood over there and they showed these videos on WGN and ABC local news stations in Chicago it looked like a line halfway down the block and he is just signing autograph after autograph and eventually to stand up and but he signed for like almost an hour eventually say hey look I can't sign anymore but hopefully one day we'll be able to sign everyone stuff thank you guys so much all this stuff and nobody was upset that he was stopping signing autographs and she said oh thanks for your time you know you give the city this and all that kind of stuff and then his speech at the rally was amazing it's got me thinking Ben Zobres Congressman in 2028 or some shit I don't know he seems to be you know I don't want him to because I want to run as an independent I've heard I've heard Bill Simmons talk about how he has to deal with Kirk Schilling having to take that 2004 win in you know yeah that's like what we get for like that's part of the deal like and I have a strange feeling that I'm okay with religious people I don't think Zobres is the type of guy who shoves it down your throat you know I mean it doesn't seem like it right you know what who they are now is who I'm gonna remember and what they do in the future if it's good great if it's bad I will condemn them but it's not gonna take away from how I feel right now there's one guy on this team that I know is a bad guy everyone else I've heard great things about as people what they do with their time the amount of charity work and from what I understand it starts with Rizzo who is a cancer survivor from when he was a kid and Lester was an inspiration for him Rizzo the amount of time he dedicates to working with kids who are battling cancer is a majority of his time off the field is or or a substantial portion and he is inspired to his teammates and create a clubhouse of people that donate as much of their time as they can so I'm not gonna feel bad about it and if one of these guys turns out to be a super awful dude in the future and one of them probably will because they're human beings like I love all angels if Rizzo pukes on a cancer kid with a hangover that's my forgive them and I know what people have happened and I didn't know when I was rooting for him this year so it's not gonna cheap anything no you're right I don't think anything you nothing could take anything away from this and we all got to clarify we've all got mad at people things over us I don't think it's a bad guy no I know you don't I know you're just hope you just think I don't want anyone listening to this podcast no he's a great dude right on a Christian's no you don't I know it's like a very hypothetical it was just a curt chilling comparison listening a curtiguar those very much like one of these guys turns into a monster like yeah no totally I'm doing it do I bet you but I just a lot of I feel like our team is different like I think there's a lot of baseball players who are fucking back with Hicks who got you know to throw in a good ball got a lot of the fucking farm but like you listen to every one of these players talk it's like you can tell they're genuinely great smart caring people who they're not that one of them is like cocky like of course a fucking did it you know I think hobby I mean maybe hobby I mean he's got some fun cocky and also John Lackey all yeah I love it but that's what you need that mix if you need that mix that's the same that's what it is just like I'm here I'm here play country hardball yeah like that is just so fun I'm coming for a haircut I came here for jewelry I guess what John Lackey we're gonna be sizing for a ring real soon buddy there yeah man I as far as player personalities go he's the show he's the show he's the one that's probably you know Travis would have shared often was wearing his camouflage sleeveless vest which I loved I love it did you guys see the video of him in Theo on top of the roof at Murphy's the whole time I'm like with someone bring Theo down there's a very standing you guys and see this video yet I'll take it up and show it to you after the podcast Theo is standing on the edge of Murphy's bleachers like on the ledge we're like what the get him down from there and him and Travis water standing there like singing go Cubs go to the people out and they're singing by the champions they all were partying on the roof it was it's crazy the tweet someone wrote this is my favorite one act play and it's a photo of one tweet that is Theo Epstein says he's gonna go on a month-long bender puts jet hoyern charge of the team and then the other tweet is Theo Epstein left Wrigley field after returning from parade dressed in a full cub costume and poured a bunch of booze on himself and then it's just like a bear outfit and he's pouring booze on his own costume that he rented oh yeah it's a stadium on the less did and he's just that drunk that's just a fucking love it I love the web's in so much that was such a funny thing him and Bill Murray downing champagne and then him saying I am going on a month-long bender jets in charge like it's it's a I mean you're right nothing will ever ruin this for me actually not he the reason they had the parade so soon is because he has to go to winter meetings is that really why they did that they wanted to get the parade on my god makes me got me a little bit more right yeah the winter is a little quick they start with a Nashville or some shit we've never played this late before we haven't you know it's really crazy I'm gonna talk for a little bit why did we get all you from your moments I don't want to be the guy who takes it away but it's my podcast and people listen to my opinions okay that wasn't towards you I was just me being an idiot I had to watch games so I went into Chicago for games 3 4 5 actually game 3 I watched in my sister's apartment something and I went there to watch her final home volleyball game of her career she plays for Samuys of Notre Dame she had a really nice collegiate career and had a great game and I was there so it was a lot of fun to watch and they lost one nothing so that was a bummer because they had so many opportunities in the game especially in the ninth and third with bias up basically one game you know all that kind of stuff but I said myself you know what moving down to one before it's fine games 4 and 5 game 4 was brutal that was the hardest game that was the game where you're like shit now we're down 3 1 game 5 when Brian at the home run it tied I started to get excited again and I said all right let's win this game we win that game it's you know it's 3 2 now going back to Cleveland and again I kept I kept hearing I kept thinking myself this is how the Cubs are gonna do it you know because uh Brida you and I talked about and all of us said like you were saying when the playoffs started like I want the Giants I'm glad we got the Giants we stopped that bleeding and crapped then you see one of the nastles you wanted to get busty baker and Daniel Murphy you really wanted Murphy to do we didn't get him but we got the Dodgers which worked out great for us because we live in a lake we got to go to the game worked out wonderfully then we get Cleveland which is almost kind of like we're getting Francona not that we have anything against Francona but it's the two longest routes the entire time all I wanted was the best that we could go up with because I want to be the best to leave no fucking doubt sure do we think that Cleveland was the best going into the world playoffs though I don't kind of I don't think who was the Red Sox they got swept they got swept yeah I mean that's the proof of the playoffs though but I know you're saying I think I know that coming back from three games to one the only thing that could have been more status I was coming back three games to none which again would have really put all of our hearts in a lot of things I was always jealous of how the Red Sox did it in 2004 when they were down 0 3 to the Yankees their world series was just an afterthought they swept the Cardinals like it was like nothing yeah and because they had so much momentum at that point right if we play another series right now we would sweep could we go to Japan and beat the show someone be sure world champions you know I don't know is we could only still playing over there he's got a chip on our shoulder probably by the way our slider from John Lester would turn that motherfucker into the ground that's spinning swing I I started seeing Cubs in seven in earnest immediately after they end of the game where they went down three to one yeah I believe the two I kept staying strong what really pumped me up was my little brother was 19 freshman college we in our hotel room in South Bend he said I want to watch for nights in October the thirty-three about the Red Sox and we watched it and we kind of got like we could do this in the whole head of the our same don't let the Red Sox went don't let us win game for don't let us win a four and a guy who listens to podcast Travis you're listening who's I love you Trev but you could get a little bit negative he's he's on the ban wagon with any lorry who's gotten a lot better though I feel like since I went off on that one thing I mean him really went back and forth Scott Derringer there's a few people who are great Cubs fans you could be the fan you want to be but of course I feel like being the fan like me and everyone here is the best way to do it having belief in actually watching a team know and yeah we could come back with one three games a million times this is no problem he kept saying don't let the Cubs win today everyone of his tweets for the comeback was don't want to say and then he really jacked me up do I've you seen that document 3530 I don't think I have it's about the Red Sox that come back to know for and it's cool because it's all this behind the scenes footage this speech where he was like talking to the inshauncey the Boston Globe reporter Sean sees a great writer and he's he basically is like if you win today we got you don't think Sean sees a good item not wild about him but go on well he called the red text a bunch of frauds when they're down 3-0 and the Larson you're gonna take that back when we win this thing so you're gonna win it you go look at this way don't let us win tonight because we win tonight we got Pedro and Shilling in the game seven how I can throw you on games tonight in the game seven that's what you can say keep saying don't let us one night don't let us one night you know our don't want to the next game or whatever was the reason I didn't watch that documentary for inspiration this year is because I watched it last year after the Cubs went down series and that was a documentary yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah I really thought they were coming back down from over three last year against the Mets I really did I was hoping to three the same score as game six of the 2003 and L.D.S. I'm very scarred and I'll see us rather but think about this way so in the Dodgers series we won the game six at home so that kind of like a race department thing but that was the bizarro Bartman game and then the world series we're down 3-1 which is also not to the NLC SL 3 laws and even you could say in a way losing to the Padres in 84 long the 108 that is going on like you know so weird man held the trophy up at 108 there's 108 stitches in baseball there's so many different weird 108 coincidences the trophy is made out of silver which has an atomic weight of 108 yeah they went they went the world series in back to the future to and taking care of business with her both exactly 108 minutes long did you already say the outs yes that's how many outs it takes they won in 10 innings with eight runs 27 times 7 is 108 27 times 4 oh yeah I just also want to quickly mention your four wins the Chicago Cubs won the world series yeah so fucking great how many times have you had to stop what you're doing to laugh dude it's turn left and cry it's become a laughing crying thing where I start to like choke up and we I'm not used to and then I get really teary I still I the gushing I didn't cry or I'll take you through my journey with it I had to go I was in New York for 36 hours I flew into New York from Chicago on Tuesday that Halloween I was a Cubs player I went to one party I remember talking about my community buddy by standing Kelsin's like I'm going to this party and I'm like a costume I have a costume and he said where you're killing 27 Jersey and you'll be a Cubs player and I'm like it's how I dressed like every day so that's fine I mean I'll dress the way dress every day anyway and at the party for some reason it was a good party so I started being like look at about these next two days and Danny's game he's like you're gonna end up watching in some Brooklyn hipster bar you the biggest Cubs fan I've ever met my entire life by far the huge Chicago win you're gonna be watching the biggest Cubs games in Chicago Cubs history in Brooklyn New York and he gets in a hip bar you fucking hate it's just kept throwing them at face and it was one of those things I'm like you know what though I've been watching games in LA watching it's out then I watched a couple games in Chicago why not this one's international it's international you're right yeah people in Belize are huge my sister lives abroad and I've been sent pictures of the newspapers from Oliver Keetoh Ecuador this is on the cover of the newspapers in Ecuador that's fantastic and you know I didn't I was okay with it like mentally but it was for comically like you know if you would ask me hey where do you think you will be when this Chicago comes when the world serious I did not think of you bar Brooklyn so game six I got in New York at five o'clock Eastern time game starts eight o'clock Eastern time I think I got to where I'm staying with the community the trigger and I we had some sushi talked a little bit then I went over my buddy Tommy McNamara was a comic-out of Chicago a little younger than you guys don't you know and Thomas Brady who's another comic who started these guys both big Cubs fans and a few other comedians Kyle Ayers is a great dude really funny guy he is a royal star he's really cool because he knew what it was like for the world's one last year he wanted his country and so we had a really good group Thomas is a girlfriend Maria who's a Chicago comic she was there to anyway great group group of people we won easily it was such a fun game as well and it was really for Clark Jones to another awesome Chicago community because of your all these names right I miss him so yeah yeah so he's because it was really funny as we got to a lead when it was three nothing Russell comes up with the bases loaded I'm just thinking sex fly right that's all I wanted because there's one out and when the ball was hit I got a while held out that'll get a run in and the ball was a grand slam so we're all like jump up not something in a clerk goes I love how you yell them the ball was an air that'll get a run in how I'm looking for and I'm like I was happy to be wrong I was just thinking hey drove the ball that's all I wanted I was watching that while my girlfriend was doing work on her laptop next to me and I believe was small said you know just get something in the air and knock a run in and I said fuck that how about grand slam what look and then he hit a grand slam and I looked it I ran into my kitchen yelling and then look at my girlfriend and said open up your Twitter and tweet that I just said that nice because it doesn't come good on you you know someone else is to be your witness she was like wait what did John Smoltz say give your laptop and I just took it from her and tweeted it myself but yeah man I went crazy that game was I honestly I felt like the most confident I felt when Nick when and she's in all of that ball drop oh my god talk about that why were you thinking when that ball drop see this is what I'm realizing from this whole conversation is my brain has gone to mush because it's all one big blur to me and it's like but this is like a constant like my memory is gone to fuck and I'm embarrassed I feel like I'm having an Alzheimer's episode and this isn't even happening I'm just wandering down sunset in my underwear you know I was driving over here remember these things but I'm not like you guys are the young guys I don't I'm not as sharp as you guys it's a little more background why has a 10 month though or 11 months old year year in November 21st yeah so she's baby maybe great name by the way have you got her any World Series champions gear yet no is it worth it's November 21st and we're gonna yeah and my birthday is November 19th so my I'm waiting to see what the wife gets me before I empty our savings account I'm gonna get her a cub shirt I'm not gonna get your baby she waited she waited too long she waited luck she had a hell of a time she did become a good luck thing because I want to say I wasn't superstitious but I wore the same Wrigley field shirt and I wore my same flannel I was like I should wear my jersey but I was like I got into this thing where I was like I have to wear this shirt and I got this hat this season so I'm like okay this this hat got it but then I started posting pictures of her and Cubs gear or us doing like Chicago stuff and I was like let me reiterate yes yes that's that I'm cool as anyone believing that let me reiterate I am okay with people being superstitious if it makes you comfortable I just don't want people believe in jinxes I don't want you thinking what you had for dinner is gonna affect because that and I don't like that kind of negative thinking either but if you if you're thinking hey I'm want wearing this sweatshirt and if it's a comfort thing and it's routine then yeah why not who cares I never believe in the curse but if you ever read the book Rick Hogan's book The Greatest Tavern in the world about to Billy go tavern he goes into a thing about how it wasn't that moment never happened with the honest where he's cursed the Cubs at Wrigley field he went there with a goat he got turned away the newspapers came in because he was an endless promotional promotions guy yeah of course created by the newspapers and like why don't you do this and he's like okay so that's why anytime so I heard that they really become a thing it's like the what early 80s I was gonna ask you I was gonna ask do I hear this because it okay I know I was alive in 45 so I wanted to get his take when an 84 was the goat a thing I've always kind of remembered it my whole life but like I feel like it became it gained more momentum with post like post that like I feel like in the 90s and especially like 2000 like it was a little bit so I feel like it's just really they really started pushing it and I feel like the bill to have really started pushing it to which really the building when I was growing up was from Saturday Night Live they're like the you know yeah the whole goat and curse things really wasn't pushed I don't feel like until when did they blow up the ball why can't remember that's 2003 yeah apartment ball they blew it up the next year right right no it's a real famous dude it was a stupid fucking thing to do I mean that's yet another embarrassing thing it was there was some of its old Cubs man there's a lot of great field that's over I'm so happy that's over I think that's what I'm so excited about do you feel different like yeah how do you feel how do you guys feel differently I just feel I as human being it's like it's everything I've wanted and I mean I'm just like I can obviously I have aspirations be on the world series but I mean like as a fan it's everything I've wanted in the sense that everything is that it was everything's easier going forward now there's no more this whole I don't I just never kind of stand that whenever I get excited about a Cubs team before people would always be like they're the Cubs though you know and I feel like if I'm excited any year going forward now nobody's gonna be able to say that's stupid illogical shit like when the Blackhawks made the Stanley Cup finals in 2010 nobody had this black ox I mean this are we really gonna do this we haven't done I mean at the dead time besides the Toronto Maple Leafs the black ox had the one of the longest routes in all sports yeah not just hockey even and I remember thinking how are people just confident about the black ox when they've sucked for so long to we mean I was there a young team that was up and coming and people believe him like this cubs team there's so many parallels with this young team built to win the strong core for a long time but for some reason I was just caught from the black ox so I know going forward now people be confident I won't have to hear about the stupid although someone I'm sorry I'm going all the place with this okay can I quickly say when I say I'm applying it to like my own life just watch my Cubs like things that I consider impossible I'm just like oh yeah I'm gonna do that now yeah right good I'm that makes me happy to hear too yeah I'm just gonna do it because it can be done because yes it can be done the thing I was told it could never happen the only thing I ever kind of really wanted that life I was told it will never happen and you're an idiot for even thinking that it would it did happen and fuck you yes fuck you you you know we did it and well at the end I think we're all gonna do five minutes of blowing the web scene but let me get to them I still haven't really got to the whole thing should be about that let me get to my my game 7 experience so I'm yeah I was in New York for 36 hours I okay I was in here for 36 hours I had a meeting there on Wednesday so that Tuesday morning quick watch the game is great blowout at the meeting walk around Central Park ponders thought about life I was gonna watch at the go to bar which is where it means you know New York is in Brooklyn I didn't really know the stuff of this bar they had three or four analog TVs spread across the bar no sound on for the game and I remember you know all right this is where I'm watching it I'm why I got a good setup here there's a few company in friends couple comics I told my cleavans who runs the show there I go I don't book to go up but I'm probably not going to because this is going on he's like I'll tell you what why don't you do it in a seventh thing stretch if you feel comfortable and you only can do as much as you want I end up doing stand up how many during the Cubs game seven little series I went up for about six and a half minutes and I can't remember the step of people to me they go hey great set those really good I open because I was all that down Cubs stuff I was when my Cubs Jack and my Samberg 84 Jersey Cubs hat and these were people who give shit about the Cubs because they're at a fucking comedy show and I opened with why I was a huge company I told the story about 40 million people watched I mean I meant nobody in that bar guy right you should probably listen better yeah so I had a good little set and then I ran right back out there and then after that I was the last comic any close up the show was stupid on their part but it worked out they brought down this huge projector screen so I end up being a watch it I'm like something that would have been the size of your wall over there and being great so I move but that was the thing because then my brain I'm like what the fuck are out there and it should be with no sound because the sound I'm here this is the first time I'm here in Joe Buckall game he's talking about Shamans domestic abuse and then Shambings up a double one comes in then the two run homer and I'm at this point where I'm just like I'm starting to swear I'm like get the fuck out of the game I'm like I'm trying to hold it in because I didn't want to slip back into that then the rain came and when the rain came I said to my buddy just time Browner was a comic from Chicago who's grew up in Cleveland started Chicago he's running for the Indians just said I need to cigarette so I spoke outside smoke to cigarette there's some people going like oh man this is crazy but there's a rain delay like yeah just more shit to heighten the drama because like again if this was a script for Hollywood Hollywood saying no it's too unbelievable it was just too ridiculous to have the back and forth this gives seven to one all this kind of nonsense and to have the domestic violence of user give up the two run homer I had to cigarette I went into the bathroom it was one of single bathrooms I just kind of took a couple deep breaths so all right I got again his own here I put in my headphones I had my pocket from the flight because it was a jacket on the flight threw in I had saw an oasis talking to a little brother but I like always but he's a really big way so I have a new document called Super Sonic got how to recommend it I put in I bought an album for the flight I bought they had definitely maybe and morning glory both until I just found them anyhow I just started listening to those albums and I sat on the stage where I could see the projections for gigantic screen and just had the headphones and didn't talk to anybody and just listen to music for the start of the ninth inning short space hit a more tagging up attention to walk to Rizzo Zobers rifles one down the line for coming around me with the big clutch hit and I just got in his own and if you guys go on my Facebook profile cover photo there's a picture me on my head down in the headphones sitting on the stage and I want to get people to background of what was going on during that photo because it really is a fucking badass photo and Tyler's is a great dude and he said if it comes with a loss this photo when I saw the light of day I wasn't gonna do that to you because you look at me and you can see I'm just this bald up and we talked about not letting those old Cubs thoughts go in and I was I'm guilty I let it go in just a little bit they've given up the home run there and blowing a five for one leading game seven started to make me fear but then when we went up by two runs even when they scored the run to make it seven I still hit all the conference in the world the final out Brian has he and that's my favorite moment to Brian smiling as he's fielding it just has this moment but it was a slip of like I got this I'm just gonna let it go and and my back foot slipped who gives a shit it still was this confident this smiling and his jubilation they're all going insane and there's bias and Russell jumped up into the air and then Bryant and Rizzo jumped near the I actually felt bad for his Montgomery kind of still looking who jumps on me now and then my terrifyingly got there they jumped and embraced because usually embrace the picture but Rizzo and Brian are like that's frying and Russell and Baez are that combo I remember just seeing like the photo where Montgomery he's still happy but I don't know if you guys saw this but there's one where Madden hugs I want to say Dave Martinez and in the corner of the screen you see a wide-eyed crazy Kyle Shorra I saw that like he's running out yeah I should probably look like it he looks like Bam Bam and I was gonna ask Brendan to make that a gif yeah I'll make that I'll find it I'll take care of that for you yeah that that might be my favorite World Series celebration where people paired off you know what I mean yeah and then the dog you put on second basis great that was the old and the way they picked each other up I hate we're calling the speech and dude I am Jason Hayward calling a team meeting during that rain delay when everyone from what I've heard looked defeated yeah everyone said that and he was defeated after game 4 and Ross said pick your fucking heads up yeah and he called a team meeting and said we didn't come here by accident we want well he said just a summon up he said we are the best and he goes I just they asked him right after the game and they're selling on the mind like we heard I think I'm reduced that we heard you call the team meeting would you say goes just reminded where they were you know and and that shows you what kind of great team this was affected a guy who had a horrible offensive year and and you know I still love him but he doesn't speak up too much like he's not known for yeah it's not his thing but they respect him and they listen to him the Indians are just like laying on the floor just waiting yeah and that's what they're doing yeah and they went into their clubhouse and it was covering plastic and all the champagne was in there set up for the Indians Wow you didn't hear that yeah because if you recall the Cubs took forever to get there when they get the trophy like in there you can see Brian Rizzo's lockers un-marked it's right that's right you're right we're gonna get the champagne stuff in a minute because we started to see them put the tarp up with blue paint oh my god Indians had to go into their own clubhouse can I tell you guys I didn't cry immediately I got a lot I got teary-eyed during the initial there's there's been a you hear me yelling fuck yeah fucking I'm the only one really going insane because it wasn't really a lot of that hard co-fans there I'll Mike Levi who was a cub fan you know given the size I probably feel both he came up to me first and I I grab my god Chicago Cubs haven't won since 2016 because that was the big thing I couldn't wait to say yeah I was just something like I can't wait to have that be the thing I say what's like we have it once and they want all that nonsense and then I picked him up and you guys know I lifted him up put him up against the wall and then proceeded to hump him really hard and there's video of that I'll just show you guys of the podcast video me I'm gonna get a crossover and then he said to me oh my god I'm gonna fuck like this in 1908 which is a great line in the moment he said that after I put him down which is such a great line and then you know I was celebrating there were people buying me drinks it was a good time and then I went outside to I think I called Nicole I didn't call my dad it was his birthday to take us this this is where symbolic my dad a great birthday really it's amazing so the Cubs when their first World Series since night to my dad's birthday and I don't know I'll never talk to him about this because he doesn't think like that you know where Irish so I could appreciate that so could you burn it my dad turned 62 which I know you're part Irish bridal aren't you yeah yeah sorry but I mean not include you but I mean I part yet okay yeah you do so my my dad's dad my grandfather died at 62 so somebody had a 60 second birthday now I got to imagine that's something you think about you know whatever age hopefully my dad lives to be 110 but when I come about to turn 110 I'm trying to wait wait wait wait yeah I'm sure you know he's thinking that and then my dad's my dad's dad who made my dad you know I never saw them in a World Series only live to be 62 and my dad hits a 60 second birthday the dear my grandfather died his dad and they went at all like dad's pretty crazy so I went outside where I wasn't Brooklyn the first thing you see when you look out is across the river in Manhattan the Empire stapling and no bullshit guys cubs blue is blue and red for the Cubs I'm looking up because I walked in there and I saw the Empire State of the other part got cool view it was just regular white lights when I came out there I saw my Instagram they went red and blue for the Cubs and then I looked it up and they said yeah they did it for the Cubs wow isn't that cool yeah that's the first thing I see so then I get a call from some other New York Cubs friends once I watch game six with they were in Manhattan as a bar called Kelly's which is like an off the boat Irish bar like a row the bartender's head Irish accent as the cab drops me off there I'm opening the door I'm here and he's driving up the corner so it's like maybe half a block away I was half a block away from this bar Manhattan and they're singing We Are The Champions by Queen someone put it on the jubex and every this loud I mean you hear it from three blocks away this Cubs bar in Manhattan New York's we are the champions I walk in and they're like you just getting in like yeah fucking hugging people I hugged every human being in the world finally found my friends and we were just going insane it was just it was the best I stayed up all night I had a flight out of Newark at 7 a.m.

I didn't go to bed when I got back Lisa Treggar was a Soxman but just so happy for me because she's a great person I had a bunch of beers left for me we went up to a rooftop drinking beers got high and it was just it was it was a blast and I right when I got in the plane I was taking on Cubs stuff and everyone was talking a little bit there's a girl next to me and I said I need to apologize to you because I know I smell like booze and then she was at the end of the fight she was you smell fun by the way I laughed at first because I was preparing myself for all great I'm sitting in a guy who's like alcohol because I didn't shower I just went straight up all my drink in and then went right took a Uber right over to Newark and then flew back here and I'm and then I called my dad I talked to him stuff like that I didn't want to call him that late in Chicago and everything like that but I'm sorry you're about to say something I just called my dad after the game I spoke to him and he he and I talked he said I can't believe I finally get to see this because he grew up in Milwaukee and he grew up in Milwaukee Braves fan and he thought he was personally cursed because he saw his team win the World Series and then moved to Atlanta a year later and he never saw a team in the city that he rooted for win a World Series again so he became a Cubs fan when he moved to Chicago for work and I was born because I'm not gonna raise my kid to be a goddamn it went a briefs fan yeah of course yeah so we talked about that and he talked to me about the first time he took me to a Cubs game Ryan Sandberg hit two home runs and after each home run I turned around and yelled at everyone sitting behind me because I thought they had a problem with me that's like a toddler who's just turned on trying to start flights at regular field so just like water works all over the place and I just went on to social media and I retweeted and I listened to Pat Hughes's call because we watched the TV feed Pat Hughes called got me I am I now I remember why I brought the airport in the airport while waiting for my flight I started watching all the videos because I can tell you guys I was the first seven things without sound I know sound the first seven things and I'm a MLB my MLB at that app has a lot of the radio calls for highlights I was watching the video highlights and that I started crying it came pretty good there too then a couple times on the plane I started crying too because I was I was watching TV I don't know what the hell I was doing but I got all teary out a few times and then I was posting the montage videos the new any better all the way that song I was disappointed he wasn't at the parade I thought he would have sung that right I was shocked and I kind of ever since that song came out I'm like I'm gonna hear this at the rally someday and in my brain I had money and I was at the rally it won't be at the rally I was disappointed you like I was not the rally I was surprised maybe they had something going on but that makes no sense to me why they want to be on state I mean maybe like it's about players and stuff like that but I would have rather had I think when you're talking about it five years of people and a lot of people who are working for that team and not taking much better jobs specifically I know of Jed Hoyer and Jason McLeod could be running their own entire teams if they wanted to but they stuck with the Cubs because they want to do it I feel like I get why Bill Murray's in the locker room and any players like that involved in the party and stuff but that event was players and people who built that thing and won it on the stage how's organization on the fans I agree though they brought that brother Eldridge guy out I thought okay the U on core that you better sing all the way then you know I mean it's it's crazy to me though that because that's not gonna have that you want to bring up you know it's over not it's not I thought it over it's not because there's still so much content out there I ordered shirts and hat one hat I got the hat that they were on the field and they got a new parade hat that they were in that rate has amazing it's pretty sick I'll probably ask for that for Christmas I want to get both my roommate who was on one of the double-dicker buses I get it because I worked for the company that owns all the buses that are in the parade so my entire Facebook feed on parade day was former co-workers posting photos and videos of like J. Gary at a foot away from them yeah it was great five million people do we mention this the seventh largest event in human history seventh largest gathering human history the largest in American history I was talking about it with my dad my sister on a phone call and my sister said yeah all the other stuff was state funerals and religious events and I said well this was more important yeah my dad y'all yeah fuck the pope yeah he's joking yeah of course but now it's funny and some people this is a religious awakening this connects you to generations more than that's why it's why it's more than just a sport it's more than just what one of you posted that because I appreciated that like said I know that you think it's like dumb entertainment why that's a great post buddy because yeah who did you fucking think about when you thought about your family watching games you thought it you know there's people I hadn't really communicated with in a decade and I was repeatedly like writing to them and then like a guy used to Internet second city and then we started like watching the games at Tynhorn and it's like we're great friends again it's like it was and I have like probably 20 people that that happen with where I was like constantly in communications and some people who I was like I like you so much in Chicago and now I'm like I fucking love you I had 137 text messages within the three minutes after I'm not even kidding with that because I remember showing David Drake and as Choxie these two comedians friends of mine and I go look at this 55 text messages already and then I started talking and I go oh my god one-on-one one and just kept blowing up and it was from a lot of people I haven't seen in a long time and yeah it's right there's so many things connecting I still am so happy though that going forward most of the highlights are gonna be from this era of Cubs because I would get annoyed when there was like we got a new play I like video but before the playoffs started even for each round and they would inevitably start with a black cat going by Ron Santo or Bartman or just these players and there's some where it's like stuff showing all these fucking losers okay I know it's cute and they were your players growing up but I can't stand it when I was listening to Chicago Sports Radio yesterday there'd be people going like I've been a Cubs band I remember I had Joey Davis jersey and I'm like fuck you I just kept going I don't care stop bringing up these fucking losers talk about this team that's so funny that you mentioned that because I was talking to him outside I said how many of these Cubs are now your like favorite Cubs all of them and I was wondering if it is all of them you know Andre Dawson carry wood Samberg I get you having soft spots in your heart for these players because this is how you fell in love with the game through them right but don't I kind of I get I'm okay with Theo and Rizzo and all the guys during the post-com series and this is for all the people who weren't coming uniform we have a bond with you guys that's smart that's classy I get that but I don't want to see it in my fucking height videos I want to see it in my montage of this year my montage of this year is about this team okay this team only that's that's just the way I feel I don't care to see Lou Penelope kick and dirt I don't care to see you know Mark Pryor pointing up at the sky and a little yelling at a fucking dork I don't care to see that last week we were almost prepared to admit that the 2003 team was a bunch of joyless chill card is fucks who didn't deserve to win can we all admit right now that they are actually said that you actually said that out loud on the podcast I've heard from people who are not thrilled but the old three team the most likable player on that team was only on the team that was the opposite the least like a poll player on this team is Chapman who was for two months most likely playing that team's Kenny Roth and only two months no wood was super likable looking wrong what was likable priors like with that you're the pitching staff I liked but then as a team there's not I didn't see one of them smile the entire year they hit I mean they were old they're sold Damien Miller behind the plate was he 48 Eric Carros well you're not playing you're not fucking catching Carlos and Brano you're not a joyless fuck yeah man I'm gonna I'm going anywhere I know you're saving the parade save it save it for as long as you want but no it's not gonna already re-watched game seven last night that's why I need to find a good link to what we watch game seven you probably won't be password oh did you change it because I'm not allowed to log in anymore I don't think it changed it but I'll check it out for you I had a problem with not that long ago this is this is exciting we should we got to wrap this podcast up though we're at our 20 and hey I do right it was beautiful what just came in and when closing words what do you guys think we need what sums this up I mean I still I'm not 100% sure it has sunk in completely from here yet as it's something for you guys like I know it happened we're world series champions it's still a remember that it happened and laughed to yourself type of type of deal for me it's not it's not like yeah book you the Cubs or the champs it's a yeah that happened yeah like and I'm happy that it happened and I probably think that I've been reliving it for too many days in a row now but that's just what I'm gonna have to do tell it to tell it sinks in I feel it's it's sunk in for me I think there's still a bit of disbelief like once in a while I have to go back and remind myself like yeah but I like it that now when I walk into the grocery store and I'm wearing my hat some fucking guy is gonna be like oh Cub fan huh now it's a whole like because I got and that would just get me angry and I'm just like I can walk in here and I can hear fucking shit I get a couple dirty looks from what I suspect to be not your fans and I love every moment of it just my face yeah well now it's even more though because I know what you're saying I want Cubs fan Cubs has places they go Cubs fans got to be tough and I could say it anymore they're gonna say Cubs fan do it right here and I was taken a train from Brooklyn Manhattan that night people knew they'd won and they were so excited for me but the one I feel really it's why it's taken it doesn't feel real until for me season opener next year when that goes up by the way I'm gonna try to get it are we gonna get it as well though we agree not to try of course we're getting them all right man although the comes convention is gonna be exciting there's so much more because we all want to be on a dynasty I'm gonna die but for me it's for me it's for the Cubs team this is the Cubs until the season opener and the next thing starts and these are not long I love it that much and you know I remember the Blackhawks won they unfortunately because of the way hockey structure with a hard salary cap they had to get rid of players and this comes in one have to do that really I mean we might lose father met this Chapman but more importantly I was gonna say is if you have a jersey of any of these players it's gonna be great forever because they're gonna be a player you know yeah it's a player who's gonna compare to the one the greatest player that's a winner yeah I mean that's what I mean you could have a like you ever see someone with a player where it's like why would you have a guy who's not even one year yeah but if you go for the old three Cubs would want the world series the girls I'm sure it's a good guy but like a dust and bufflin black hot jersey that is a good jersey for life I'm saying if you have a jersey of any player on this team and say say we trade so you have a Montero jersey he's cut in the soft season for running his mouth recently I think he might be you can wear that Montero jersey for us your life I mean that's like these players are bonded this is this 2016 team is gonna be gonna make the 85 Bears talk look like weak sauce you know I mean if those you aren't familiar Chicago likes to bring up the 85 Bears as often as they can whenever they can't do it like all right 32 years now or 30 years 31 30 one and 86 whatever January 6th was suitable but this is um do the DVD it's gonna come out the blue way movie and or mini series can I throw this out there can burns can burns what I mean this needs to be a mini series that's done well they're gonna win awards at the SPs and oh sorry for 30 we watch the 34 30 live that's what Mikey make it's any was down there on SNL tonight oh I heard Brian's gonna be on Alan and Kimmel the fucking do the arc of this season it's a story you're right it's an amazing screenplay it's an amazing and I have been playing Ben Zobers because I think I grow a beard fully and have the hat on I can maybe he's the only one I think I could play and I can switch it could I just if you dye your hair or dye your beard yeah man you can play a man who you ride oh can I play myself and I go a little bit a little bit a little bit a little bit myself and I'll be heckling you were I could easily do Trevor K. Hill you know we could do yeah you can get a ring guys list tell us get my ring Joe Smith Joe Smith Joe Smith Joe Smith how is by the way this is my big house hockey is getting no fucking you know this he wasn't afraid that's a big thing people were tweeting at ESPN Jesse Roger go work I was talking I was very disappointed I don't know what happened maybe it's a flight I don't know it's a bummer because he was he was singing we are the champions on Japanese TV in the locker room after they won yeah I love this team so much David Ross by the way I going out of champion he's a great tasting comedy he he I mean the way people get choked up talk about my predict and I think you guys will probably go along with this prediction it takes the I think you show some spring training house out a little bit maybe we could do takes the year off yeah maybe he'll sing take me out of the ball game he'll show up for some stuff he'll be there for the ceremony obviously he'll get his for the ring ceremony probably seen taking it up yeah I think he'll pop up here and there he's gonna be with his family and after this year though in 2018 someone will lure one of the Cubs bench coaches away and that's what David Ross slides in he could be next year's shwarver if that makes any sense or he says the whole season comes up the world series no no like it's just there to motivate them as like but he said he needed to be with his family that he's gonna take the year he's not gonna show up and follow the team around he's taking the year off he's gonna find out what it's like to be at home for six hours while the kids are gone I'm sure I know I'm sure that's gonna be a real boring real fast yeah well and I know he does but I still think he takes a year off he shows up here there he's gonna be the cool guys he's the senior just graduated it's gonna show up at the old high school every now and I know just saying I'm just saying I was just agree with you I'm just saying that's my prediction of it we'll get together one more time during the offseason a couple more time meeting especially because we'll keep up and then we'll do hot stuff I'm gonna do some predictions now let's live in the moment let's let's soak this all in pride I mean Brandon watch the parade guys keep watching parade I don't know any closing thoughts on anybody like this is just this is the best I can't get over how great this is I'm thrilled that it happened I'm also so happy that we have one another to text it's really meant a lot to me in the last two years except for you Dwyer but I'm a champ not I almost forgot I was gonna I was gonna break why I'm I way over here I was thinking I was gonna do like a hard time because you say it in your in your text do I hear his a baby that's why he's a lot he's tired he's a lot of loops and times the three of us we have nothing else in our lives we both have a variety of gorgeous wives Brandon has a fantastic a gorgeous girlfriend to I'm not saying we have nothing like joking to in comparison we don't have a child to raise my wife's pregnant but I other than a couple massages making her lunch I my the hard part has to come we're gonna be tiring and taking all those fucking photos on Instagram yeah man you're an Instagram to the king dude but I was gonna be you're the key to baby you're the key to be on the way over here I was thinking myself I'm like oh yeah Brendan kept saying Cubs and five on the last podcast I'm a guy I'm you said comes in five ago and I said Cubs and six and I do I actually come to three because he thought it's about to five but I was gonna open up with you because you always say like guys I'm not looping my brain hurts that's not a knock on you that's just your good debt and you're a good coach man too and just like a sleepy you'll be amazed how many things I've I've had people who have known my entire life I cannot think of their name I think I had my baby my baby is doing February for recent man offseason I didn't want to be born during the season I know that carries into the season I figured a couple months had star before the game started being meaningful you fucking idiot your cubs have the cubs open on the road for a whole week so I have the baby will be a good almost two months and some days at that point too much smooth sailing yeah I heard it's like a puppy just got a train to shit and then you're fine I don't know I also I posted this today I was on WCLU I mentioned this already I'm going in circles all I said was on that right on that TV thing I may become a self-off as a WCU and I told them that I would not have a baby until the Cubs won the World Series this was in September 2015 and that video I posted today I go the Cubs just one of the world series my wife's doing February you're welcome Chicago nice because I said I don't know we could have because I was that confident in the 2016 Cubs and I was worried that just so I was still talking about the whole year I really was we were the best team in baseball 103 wins wired wire that's right that's right it was 24 and 6 right yeah 25 and 6 and even that's good I felt good that we were I just yeah and by the way guys what's it called again Dowdink Theo dot tumbler doubting Theo is the tumbler it's the best all these idiots who've doubted the all the years really breathtaking tell under there's a lot of Rick Teller in there there's a lot of Nick of law hosts but one guy gets a little bit of a passage should I think the other more is Gordon Whitmer yeah he's not he hated the plan and then who's the guy's name starts with our Rick something or other more see there you go okay yeah so I was just I'm closing this we're gonna close on the web steam he guys there's nothing I started watch yesterday you go on YouTube and watch his opening press conference I watched it and everything he said to me true he signed a five-year contract with the Cubs this was his fifth year of the contract they extended him in September they announced it so he's more than for five years which is awesome but he sent a five-year contract in one world series in the fifth year the plan was executed flawlessly he was transparent he was honest he said here's what we're gonna do and here's how we're gonna do it and this is what it takes and I believe this is what's gonna happen I'm gonna be happy to be the guy that leads you there and it's happening exactly how dumb do you have to feel if you're out there and you're like why didn't we sign Prince Fielder and oh I don't understand your name paul Muhammad good year why couldn't we just over getting rid of our one bar like how stupid do you have to feel and I'm sure they don't I'm sure they celebrate everyone else but and I'm not saying they don't get to enjoy you do get to enjoy it but you better fucking apologize and let this be a life lesson for you when in doubt trust the smart guys when in doubt trust the smart guys alright Brian closing remarks no I got that was great thank you why you're and Brendan thanks for joining us on this podcast everyone thanks for listening for those of you who are fans of my regular when I'm not just talking baseball I'll be
