Adolfo Castanzo, a practitioner of Palo Miombe and Voodoo, formed a cult in Mexico that carried out sadistic ritual murders. He attracted rich drug dealers and corrupt policemen as followers and performed expensive ritual sacrifices to bring good luck. Castanzo believed his power came from Palo Miombe and demanded to be made a full partner in a powerful cartel. When his demand was rejected, several family members disappeared.
