Hey everyone welcome to mouth therapy. I'm Robin and today I want to quickly talk about something that I overheard while I was walking back from class to my dorm today But it's it's something that I've heard in the bus. So I just want to address it So I was walking right from math and I heard these these two girls talking and I heard a couple of words So I figured they were talking about speaking in another language but I heard basically to try to say word for word, but I might miss some is and I'm And I'm tolerant or I'm inclusive of other cultures and all but when I travel somewhere I expect to be able to order something and I heard just that with kind of the basic context that I picked up from it So what I figured is these girls they were talking about someone who said something and in class that day And they were from another country and what I figured the girl was talking about is they were inclusive of all the cultures But when they travel somewhere they expect like another country They expect whatever restaurant or service that they want order from to speak English And so I'm doing a lot of supposing here, but I'm doing it because that's an argument I heard before so if that's not what they were saying then I'm addressing the point that I heard made before I Try to be open to difference of opinions to the best that I can but this argument I'm not afraid to say I think is arrogance and just very never minded in that it Supposes that one culture the culture of the speaker is superior to other cultures And it fails to understand that when you travel to another country You are not the dominant culture nor are you the culture that should be done dominant in that country So if you're from I'm French so if you're from France and you travel to the US No, I don't expect everyone here to adhere to French culture because they shouldn't have to But when someone from the US travels to France They shouldn't expect people to adhere to the American culture or even to speak English I do agree that for from business standpoint, it's smart for businesses to speak English But businesses in French do not have to speak English Then France and the culture there is French the national language there is French So when I hear someone from an English speaking country or even like from from a French speaking country I've heard it sometimes say that they expect people to speak their language when they travel to another country that speaks another language No, absolutely not because what you are saying when you're saying that people should speak your language where you travel Is that whatever language or whatever culture you want to uphold? Which is yours is superior to other cultures and Should be upheld as such and their language you speak is a superior language and should be upheld as such and unless I find something That changes my mind on this or talk with someone that changes my mind on this I just do not believe that Especially for first world countries that any first world culture especially or Superior to other cultures that might be good sides of them There might be bite sides of cultures But I don't think that it's fair to say well my culture or my language is superior and everyone should hear to it So thank you for listening.

Have a great day
