Cultures of Poverty and the Search for Opportunity (podcast interview)
from Stream of Subconsciousness · host Lincoln Stoller PhD CHt CCPCPr
I always listen to my own interviews afterwards to better understand what I was saying and to hear what I am failing to say. In this podcast I have a lot to say, but might have learned more if it got Kelly to do more talking.I had ideas I wanted to express and took this opportunity to sketch them out. They related to group-think, socialized behavior, and how one achieves independent and creative thought. I worked to connect Kelly’s focus on substance addiction with my focus on thought addiction and social opportunity. Substance addiction is a form of thought addiction at its root, and from this root sprouts all sorts of maladaptive behaviors. I focused on what I consider three pillars of creative ability: cognitive independence, subconscious engagements, and neurological flexibility.
