Government has recommended that mothers should feed their babies from a cup instead of a bottle as commonly done. Mothers attending antenatal care clinics have been encouraged to cup feed their babies as it is apparently more hygienic. According to Infant and Young Child Feeding policy of the Department of Health, cup feeding is encouraged and bottle feeding discouraged for a number of reasons.
