Audrey welcome to the episode. Thank you Okay, okay, so we want to talk about like our favorite songs that like we've been listening to recently And so that was one of Audrey's picks and Audrey do you want to explain why you love that song what you feel?
I love it so much. Yeah I really like that song because it reminds me of good memories I went I studied abroad this summer and I went to Germany in Switzerland and I played a lot of that song While I was over there so it reminds me of like that And it's also like I don't know but for some reason like some of the like hosier songs or just like some of the Songs will be playing very shortly Kind of remind me of fall in the Pacific Northwest I agree and like winter And so I feel like the songs that I chose are kind of sad Not they're not sad, but they're a little bit more mellow But they remind me of home and so like I like to listen to These songs also when I'm in Arizona But those years just one of my favorite artists and I just really like his music and with that eye is One of the good ones the great ones Well, all of his songs are good. Yeah, but that is one of the ones that like I remember loving from like the first time I heard it, you know, yeah, I know exactly how you feel. I'm glad you do Oh, did you want to introduce the next song or gonna play because that's also a pick of yours?
Yeah, of course So the next song that is going to be played on the station I don't know why I said it that way, but whatever is called green light by Lord This song is kind of just like a head banger in my opinion, which is odd to say it's a Lord song But it's just kind of like it's the lyrics and like the tempo It's something you can like scream in the car. Yeah, which I love to do and It's just I love I love Lord also She puts out some good stuff and it's impressive that like most of her music She wrote when she was like in school like she was really young. Yeah, like a teenager when she wrote some of this stuff So I love it for well many reasons, but this is just one of her songs that I've been loving recently It's not like it's a new song either. None of these songs are really new.
They're just songs that I've rediscovered and love So coming up next is green light by Lord I do my makeup in somebody else's car That was just green light by Lord Audrey just introduced that song and I actually like that song too I don't listen to it as much But if you have seen the show new girl, you know that that song plays at a very special moment I forgot about that characters and I always think of that scene when the song plays so I forgot about that. I mean I think or at least more knowledgeable about like music Yeah, but I feel like I'm not you I feel like I've seen someone call him Bonnie Baron interview Yeah, no, I trust you more than like I do myself because I feel like I would You know how like you read like books? Yeah, and you like and you like pronounce their name and like and they're like so wrong A specific way and then someone else says it out loud and you're like oh, I completely mess that up That's how I think I am like for that name.
I think you're right. I think I'm just I'm just crazy Yeah, but also like I will admit that like sometimes when reading books if I don't like the name or like I don't like how the name spelled all like change it in my mind really I'm giving them a new look is like most of the books I read are like very like Passing like not like I don't need to like focus hard on it Like a quick one and done. Oh, but like but like if I'm reading a book and it has a complicated name That makes me like I don't know it like changes how I read the book So I choose a simple name just go like Like your head like I don't even know an example but like if the name is like They're a Nicholas. I'll change it to Nick because I don't really know I'm calling you Nicholas in my head.
No, well, exactly and it's quicker to read. Yeah, like I don't know I mean you're right and if it's like an old like long name. I'll just give them a nickname Yeah, I'm just like yeah Well cuz I just like like if it slows me down No, that's fair. I get that and like some of them like I focus too hard on like how to pronounce it or how to read it And so I'm just like whatever you get a name you give a new name.

Yes We got a little bit off topic Bonnie Ver or Emma It is possibly one of my favorite songs bold claim Well, I don't know about ever I'm gonna be honest I have like a playlist in my phone of all my favorite songs and said playlist has like a lot of hundred songs Let me look actually how many well does it say? Well the playlist is eight hours long so long long But I really love this song. It's kind of a sad song because this is from Bon Eva Bonie Ver's Like one of his earlier albums and he Either broke up with his girlfriend or divorced his wife I don't remember and this is the wife girlfriend or this is like after post divorce post divorce post I should just say post heartbreak cuz I don't remember what it is But post heartbreak he goes oh this is like a cabin and writes this album and if you haven't heard this album It's beautiful.
What's the album called? Let me make sure I Think I think like that's a really interesting concept like after you go on heartbreak to oh the Going and writing yeah, I mean it's probably cathartic no it totally is But I feel like a lot of the times people do that and then they just like kind of keep the work to themselves Yeah, no, that is true, but the albums called for Emma forever ago. It's from 2008 How do you think you would feel if you broke up with a guy and he came out with a little album about his heartbreak for you? I mean I feel flattered You're probably like dating.
Why did I break up with him? Well, yeah But the song for Emma is basically about like him his part break And it's the most like melancholy but beautiful song I've ever like ever heard it's one of my favorites It's it like I'm not gonna live cry before listening to this song I'm not gonna I think maybe I'm just getting older and like things are just like I'm just more emotional or something But I get a lot more emotional when listening to music now for some reason I think it's cuz I'm in college and like you're really a transition period and like a lot of things that I've like always known and Always had around me like that's changing. So yeah, I get a lot more emotional when listening to music This is one of the songs that like I've tried to but it's just beautiful It's like the beat and just like the haunting it's not like haunting but it's just like a very like melancholy sound Which is really funny because like it's a sad song But for some reason it kind of leaves you like hopeful. Yeah in a good way and like there is like the lyrics There aren't it's not a very it's it's very instrumental.
They're like only like a couple lines Which I like and it's just it's so good But it's just it's one of my favorites and I think it always will be it's one of those songs that just like is feels timeless to me I mean it came out in 2008, but I'm still listening. I'm sorry. I was three. Yeah, you were Which is crazy, but it's a really good song It just it just it's just a good song.
I really like it I I don't know it's weird cuz I'm not really in a sad mood. I haven't been this sad Listen like the songs are like kind of sad, but like they're so good. Like you have to listen to them. It's really good. It's such a good song and he recently came out with a new like collaboration. Yeah, I was gonna say remix but that's not the right word But yeah, he came out with a new collaboration for the song Northern attitude with hosier. Yeah, it's a really good It's so good.

I really like him. I agree So he's very talented is and so he's recently been like coming out with collaborations for like his album So he released an album. Yeah, and well because it's because it's like I feel like the way you just said it I know it's single which they are however he released his album Well, I'll be here forever. Yeah, right?
Yeah, well I'll be here forever and he released that a while ago and I was like ever since then he's been like coming out with singles of the songs that are on the album But with a new collaboration So he's done collaborations with like Casey Musgraves Lizzie McAlpine hosier post Malone Gracie Abrams There's been so many people and it's so cool and I'm really hoping that he does the whole album as collaborations That would be cool. Um, but I don't think he's going to yeah But I think it would be really cool and really satisfying because I really want him to release the album Like collaboration style because he has the like album Whatever and then whenever he comes out with a new collaboration It's just a single yeah, and so I want it to be like all in one place. Yeah, yeah Yeah, no, but all the collaborations are really good too. I think it's fun Like I feel like that I would do the same thing as an artist like I feel like it would be so much fun Like why don't make write an album and then have all your friends come on and like sing the song with you It's so fun like if I was that talented like I totally do that.
Yeah, but this Northern I see the one we're playing is just gonna be um the one from his album not the collaboration. Yeah, I love this song Me too it like no a con like Sticksies almost like the first song I like really from him and it reminds me of my friends Like I love listening to songs and like being able to associate them with someone Yeah, it's my favorite thing ever and it always makes me think of people when I'm not I wouldn't necessarily what song makes you think of me Yeah, that's a hard question. I think anything Taylor Swift. Okay, so I accept that you accept that Yeah, here is Northern attitude by no con That was just Northern attitude by no con and now we have transitioned into my picks and I'm very excited to talk about them because Audrey Has not heard some of these songs actually that's such a lot you have heard all these songs.
Yeah, however, you don't know them as well as I do I do because I just love my I do have you heard of this band? It's like a really they're kind of small. They're kind of small. I wouldn't expect you to know them But it's just because I don't like I talk about these artists more than I hear Audrey talking about that And like I kind of have like the same music tastes but different.
Yes, I feel like you well obviously You know a lot more than I if I hear a song like I get fixated on it Yeah, but like my thing is like I like I focus on an artist and I like kind of deep dive like I go I've learned like everything about them not because like I'm purposely trying to learn everything about them But like I just have become obsessed and I'm like, oh, okay, what is there Instagram look like? What is there Instagram? Oh, what other music I'm doing? Interesting.
So like I just kind of like learn things. What artists are you like really into right now? Well, so right now I'm kind of in this transition period, but like I'm still kind of lingering so yeah It's the holidays so it would be more like yeah, so right now I'm kind of more holiday music But like my lingering fascinations are What? Linger by the cranberries?
No, my lingering fascinations of like artists that like I'm interested in are Zach Ryan Okay, Renee rap and Sabrina Carpenter. Um, I love all of them and I Am excited to listen to the music And we're gonna play two of those artists. Okay, that's cute But like this one don't say I left you say when that time comes around. Okay, okay Next song is a lot more upbeat than that. Yeah, it was very popular over the summer. Yeah, and it's how I discovered this artist It's so good.
I love this song. It's Zach Brian and it is called revival and I love this song so much It's like a fun. It's a good song to play in the car. I agree It's fun to play with your friends and kind of what Audrey was talking about earlier like how like songs have different memories and like different associations with people so I'm a senior this year in a tradition that are Like school has is that the night before the first day of school we all go to Like the senior parking lot and we spend the night there and then we go to and then we watch the sunrise and then we go to school Whatever and so the night before the first day So when we were all just kind of hanging out in the parking lot this song was playing on a speaker like full blast and everyone was just Screaming it and it was really fun.
That's really cute. I love that. Yeah, we're so cute Yeah, here's revival by Zach Brian Okay, that was just revival by Zach Brian and it was so good and fun and amazing and Yay, the next song you want to play is a little bit slower than that. Oh, that's slower It's so beautiful.
It's by Phoebe Bridgers and she is such a beautiful voice. She does I love Phoebe Bridgers so much Phoebe Bridgers actually she performs on her own sometimes and she's also in a band called boy genius and Right now she's kind of in her boy genius era She has been genius. She hasn't really been performing on her own a lot recently and I've luckily Fortunately been able to see her perform on her own and in boy genius. Yeah, I saw her perform I think two years ago one year ago I'm jealous.
I was I wanted to go you wanted to go but then he didn't and yeah, it's really not fun for you I'm sorry about that But yeah, so I saw Phoebe perform a couple years ago and it was really fun And then I saw boy genius perform at Coachella, which was so beautiful and it was our first performance back together Yeah, I think I just split up actually recently not like what do you mean recently? It was like 2018 when they were no no They like recently like recently split up to work on independent problems. Really? Yeah, okay.
That's amazing I mean that's sad but like I'm really excited for new Phoebe. Yeah, new music from like each individual artist Really exciting if I didn't know that yeah, I just I know the lore you just know everything But yeah, Phoebe's gorgeous boy genius listened about those if you can but right now I want to play a few bridge or song and it's called Chinese satellite Great song great song that was just Chinese satellite my Phoebe's and the next song We're gonna play is one of my favorite ballads that has been released recently. She's a queen and icon and I love her She got her star on Brueld Broadway actually she played Regina George way She played Regina George on Mean Girls the Musical on Broadway and she was fabulous And after that like COVID kind of happened and so she had to stop whatever and she started making her own music And she recently released her first album called Snow Angel and I hate Boston is on the album and it's really beautiful Really pretty and it's a really cool concept But I'm gonna explain it after the song so you can listen to it and then I can explain it to you and you can be like oh my gosh I get it now Although you might be able to piece it together on your own. We'll see here is I hate Boston by Renee Okay, I hate Boston great song. It is so the song basically is about Renee having an ex boyfriend and she the drama the drama So she's talking about how she hates Boston and she's like Boston. I hate you and Thanks for that clarification.
Yeah, of course. Happy to explain But so she's talking about hey, I hate Boston, but it's only I only hate Boston because my ex boyfriend is from Boston So like if the ex boyfriend was from Los Angeles, she'd hate Los Angeles. You get what I'm saying You get what I'm putting down you pick it up on a down. Yeah, so basically She's like if I like how do you make me hate Boston?
It's not its fault that you don't love me And that's one of the lyrics and it's such a pretty song. It's such a pretty song It's so beautiful and I love it. You're beautiful And I think it's a really cool concept to like write about how like you hate a city But like not because you hate the city but because like someone you used to love is from the city. I hate Boston. I hate Denver like very clever and I appreciated that and I did buy t-shirt That's what I hate Seattle And I think it's really fun. It's a nice pea shirt. I agree. I think she it's very like 2000s rock. I agree like it reminds me of Avril Lavigne This song in particular is really good. I feel like her whole album Well, not her whole album because there are some sad songs on that But a good portion of her album is just like a great like it's great to play in the car and just like head bang And very true less like listen with your friends blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah But it's really good.
I just I really like her work I think that she has really matured in this album. I am valid of a homeschool girl is just a Relatable it is I'm not homeschooled, but it's really relatable with someone who has anxiety. Yeah, which I like I think that her like Olivia Rodriguez going on tour I'm soon and I think that this like upcoming tour is gonna be a lot of fun.
