The 2016 Curry Stone Design Prize goes to The Society for the Promotion of Area Resource Centers (SPARC); formed in 1984 and began working with the most vulnerable and invisible of Mumbai’s urban poor – the pavement dwellers. In this interview with Dr. Sheela Patel, we learn about SPARC and what progress is being made by pavement dwellers in Mumbai, India, and in other cities where SPARC is active, to improve their living conditions.
