Curt Warner on playing for Joe Paterno and career with Seahawks

In Episode 12 of “In The Front Row with Mike Vaccaro” we’re joined by former college and NFL running back Curt Warner.  Growing up in rural West Virginia, Warner excelled at football and would play collegiately at Penn State, choosing the Nittany Lions over schools such as Pitt and West Virginia.  While at Penn State, Warner played for Joe Paterno and worked to stay out of Paterno’s office.  He led the Nittany Lions in rushing three seasons, helped lead Penn State to the 1982 National Championship (the first for the school) and left Happy Valley with 42 records.  From there, Warner was drafted third overall by the Seattle Seahawks and led the AFC in rushing his rookie season.  However year two would not be as successful with Warner suffering an ACL injury in the first game of the season.  Coming back from that injury, Warner had several Pro Bowl years with the Seahawks and ended his career following one year with the LA Rams in 1990.  During that time, Warner met his wife Ana and got married.  That marriage has been tested by the loss of an unborn child and an autism diagnosis for twin sons.  Warner shares those personal stories with us and how his faith helped he and his wife make it through the tough times.  Those tough times were the backdrop for the book he and Ana co-authored, “The Warner Boys”.  You’ll hear Curt’s thoughts on all these stories, plus how former major league baseball player, and current MLB Network analyst, Harold Reynolds helped save Curt and Ana’s first date.
