#cuttheclutter The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) released the GDP data this week, which said that India’s economy grew 7.8 percent in the first quarter of FY 2026-27. The growth numbers has sparked a big fight, with critics and opposition claiming that the estimates are inflated. In this special edition of #CutTheClutter, Chief Economic Adviser Dr V. Anantha Nageswaran joins Shekhar Gupta and debunks the ‘fudged data’ claim. CEA also explains the new way of calculation, and reiterates that numbers are not being used in any way to inflate the growth estimates.
