Cyclone Idai

from African Dialogue · host Channel Africa

The death toll caused Cyclone Idai has risen to above 750. This is after one of the worst tropical cyclones to hit southern Africa devastated the lives of people in Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi. As the call for increased international assistance continues there has been concern that the region could see the spread of diseases such as malaria and cholera. According to agencies in Beira, it is said that up to more than one hundred thousand people are now living in shelters in Mozambique after the cyclone hit. To look at this story we are joined by: • Tigere Chagutah, Amnesty International’s Deputy Director for Southern Africa• Glen Tyler, South African team leader for 350.org
