Cyclones Lose Key Guard to Shoulder Surgery | Big 12 Basketball News

Iowa State’s basketball season just got a major blow as sophomore point guard Killyan Toure goes under the knife for a shoulder injury sustained at Damian Lillard’s elite camp — and he’s sidelined for the foreseeable future. Coach T.J. Otzelberger hopes Toure returns by January, just in time for Big 12 play, but replacing him won’t be easy. Toure was poised to take over as a starter and defensive anchor, averaging over eight points and dishing assists as a freshman. The Cyclones are turning to transfer Jaquan Johnson — Missouri Valley’s Defensive Player of the Year — to plug the gap. Tough loss, but they’re adapting fast.
