Three million people live in the capitol but have no state  representation to speak of; simultaneously, there are states that have  less than one million in population numbers yet have senatorial and  house representation. It is high time to allow these citizens the  ability to also have legislative powers, but Republicans are afraid of  losing more power by democratizing D.C. and oppose statehood.
