In part one of this two-part episode, we are joined by Play Steinberg, a Deaf Studies graduate, scribe, and creator of the web series Father.Mother.God.In their conversation with Ashley, Play dives into their journey to becoming a scribe, their experience earning a master’s degree in Deaf Studies, and how the loss of both parents to suicide informed their deeply personal webcomic series. Play shares their experience navigating life in the aftermath of intense and complicated loss, candidly exploring with Ashley their ongoing process toward acceptance. Together, they foster a vulnerable conversation that unravels and examines the nuances of loss, guilt, religion, communication, and healing.Grief often stifles us.
