D Generation & CAKE Shows
from MBJ Enterprises LLC · host Max Baker Jr.
March 1997 had two very different nights.March 14th, D Generation played Bricktown Live.Great band.Almost nobody there. The bill had D Generation, The Lunch Bunch, Lord High Octane, and The Camshaft Kings. It was a full package tour with no local support, and that made a difference. For a punk rock or glam-leaning rock show, a strong local opener could have helped bring people into the room. But that night, they probably had less than 100 people.Sometimes the band is good. Sometimes the bill is cool. Sometimes the room still does not fill. Then three days later, everything flipped.March 17th, 1997.CAKE at the Diamond Ballroom on St. Patrick’s Day.Sold out.1,200 tickets in advance. $15 day of show. 1,516 people in the room. That is a completely different kind of night.Same month. Same Oklahoma concert scene. One show barely draws. Another one packs the Diamond on a holiday. That is the business.D Generation may have deserved a bigger crowd.CAKE got one.And St. Patrick’s Day at the Diamond became one of those packed-room memories. #HeresTheDealPodcast #DGeneration #CAKEBand #BricktownLive #DiamondBallroom #StPatricksDay #PunkRock #AlternativeRock #MaxBakerJr #JeffBrownen #oklahoma #oklahomacityLike, share, and follow so these stories keep getting told.Follow & Connect: Max Baker Jr. Instagram @bmaddmaxx | Facebook @bmaddmaxx Jeff Brownen Facebook @jeff.brownenLinks: Here’s The Deal YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/@heresthedealokHere’s The Deal Podcast Website https://heresthedealok.comBuy Here’s The Deal Vintage & Collectables https://heresthedealvintagecollectables.comGet an Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Card https://medcardsmadeeasy.netConcert & Event Production Services https://bakerboyspro.comBuy Roadie CBD Balm & Oil https://bakersremedycbd.comLike, share, and follow so these stories keep getting told.Follow & Connect: Max Baker Jr. Instagram @bmaddmaxx | Facebook @bmaddmaxx Jeff Brownen Facebook @jeff.brownenHere’s The Deal YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/@heresthedealokHere’s The Deal Podcast Website https://heresthedealok.comBuy Here’s The Deal Vintage & Collectables https://heresthedealvintagecollectables.comGet an Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Card https://medcardsmadeeasy.netConcert & Event Production Services https://bakerboyspro.comBuy Roadie CBD Balm & Oil https://bakersremedycbd.com
