#D38 (decide to decimal)

I read from decide to decimal. In America, a "decillion" is a 1 with 33 zeroes behind it but in other areas, it's a 1 with 60 zeroes behind it! Wha?!?! It turns out they use words with the suffix "-ard" between each of our "-ions" so our "Billion" is their "Milliard", then they have "Billion" (our "Trillion"), then "Billiard" (our "Quadrillion"), then "Trillion" (our "Quintillion"), etc. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/decillion https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Names_of_large_numbers The word of the episode is "decidua". When I read the definition I didn't make the connection that it's in both pregnancy and menstruation. Which really does make sense. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decidua Theme music from Tom Maslowski https://zestysol.com/ Merchandising! https://www.teepublic.com/user/spejampar "The Dictionary - Letter A" on YouTube "The Dictionary - Letter B" on YouTube "The Dictionary - Letter C" on YouTube "The Dictionary - Letter D" on YouTube Featured in a Top 10 Dictionary Podcasts list! https://blog.feedspot.com/dictionary_podcasts/ Backwards Talking on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLmIujMwEDbgZUexyR90jaTEEVmAYcCzuq [email protected] https://www.facebook.com/thedictionarypod/ https://twitter.com/dictionarypod https://www.instagram.com/dictionarypod/ https://www.patreon.com/spejampar https://www.tiktok.com/@spejampar 917-727-5757
