Lorenzo Annese, classe 1937, arriva in Germania nel 1958 con un contratto di un anno per lavorare nel settore agricolo. È uno dei primi Gastarbeiter, i lavoratori ospiti creati dall'accordo italotedesco per lo scambio di manodopera del 1955. Lorenzo però ha un obiettivo chiaro: vuole lavorare in fabbrica, alla Volkswagen. E ci riuscirà, nonostante mille difficoltà.
