Dad Apologizes After School Lockdown

A dad’s meltdown at his son’s school sparked a lockdown after he shouted and banged on a window demanding to see the headteacher—triggered by kids’ tears and parents’ fury over poorly communicated class changes. The school’s plan to merge Year 5 and 6 into mixed-year classes, citing falling birth rates, left children distraught and families feeling blindsided. Mr. Holt, whose son has anxiety, admitted his outburst was unacceptable and blamed years of miscommunication. The school trust acknowledged the mess-up, saying mixed-year classes are increasingly common and effective. Police responded, and Mr. Holt now hopes his apology will get him back on school grounds.
