DAGON / NIGHTMARE CITY: Schlock-tastic Voyage
from Cadaver Dogs · host Cadaver Dogs Podcast
Bad acting. Bad scripts. INCREDIBLE effects. The Cadaver Dogs take a schlock-tastic voyage during their analysis of two international cult classics. What makes these movies so bad they’re good? Or, so bad they’re… well, bad? By stripping down to the bare bones of Stuart Gordan’s DAGON (2001) and Umberto Lenzi’s NIGHTMARE CITY (1980), you see the necessities of a horror film. The Dogs analyze the creature design, film direction (what an odd approach to dubbing), and fear tactics that have made these films “guilty pleasures” for horror fans. During their dive into Dagon, an adaptation of The Shadow Over Innsmouth by H.P. Lovecraft, they talk xenophobia and fear of the other. While Nightmare City makes them question the boundaries of exploitation films and if action horror should be a considerable genre. . Up Next: THE INVITATION (2015) / THE SACRAMENT (2013) .
