Good afternoon from the Daily Beast. I'm Barbina Dow in for Brooke Howard. It's Wednesday, April 28th, and here are the top five stories that she and she team is watching right now. The first year in the George Floyd murder trial has spoken out Brandon Mitchell, a 31 year old basketball coach, told CNN that the courtroom felt oppressive and stressful, and that he quote, didn't see any remorse in the face of former police officer Derek Chauvin.
Well, we can finally put this to rest. A top California Republican lawmaker asked a doctor if there are tracking devices inside coronavirus vaccines being distributed in Orange County. Dr. Clayton Child, the local healthcare agency director, let out a laugh before telling this conspiracy theorist, quote, there is not a vaccine with a tracking device embedded in it that I know of that exists anywhere in the world, period.
Britain's political spending watchdog announced Wednesday that it's launching a formal investigation into how Prime Minister Boris Johnson funded lavish renovations at his Downing Street home that cost around $280,000 and included gold wallpaper. Johnson said he paid for the upgrades himself, but the watchdog says they will determine whether that's actually the case. Tucked inside the massive spending plan, President Joe Biden will deliver on Wednesday as a proposal to provide universal free preschool to kids age three and four, as well as two years of free community college regardless of income. The plan will also overhaul the tax structure for the highest income Americans to raise about $1.5 trillion over the next decade.

That's all for today. Check back every weekday morning and afternoon for more of the news you need to know.
