Daily Devotional - II Chronicles 12:1-16 - Egypt Attacks Judah

In II Chronicles 12, the chapter describes the reign of King Rehoboam, son of Solomon, and the consequences of his and Israel's unfaithfulness to God. After establishing his kingdom and growing strong, Rehoboam and the people of Judah abandon God's laws, leading to an invasion by Shishak, the king of Egypt. Shishak attacks Jerusalem, capturing the fortified cities of Judah and plundering the temple and the royal palace. The prophet Shemaiah conveys God's message to Rehoboam and the leaders of Judah, warning them of their sins. In response, they humble themselves, and God spares them from total destruction, but they become subjects to Shishak. The chapter concludes by highlighting the conflict between Rehoboam and Jeroboam and summarizing Rehoboam's reign and legacy.
