Acts 15:24 (ESV) - “Since we have heard that some persons have gone out from us and troubled you with words, unsettling your minds, although we gave them no instructions.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall examines a challenge faced by the early church: individuals who claimed authority they did not have and brought teachings that confused and troubled believers. The apostles made it clear that these men had not been sent by them, and their teachings were creating uncertainty rather than strengthening faith. Pastor Sumrall explains that throughout church history there have been people more interested in influencing existing believers than reaching the lost. Rather than focusing on evangelism and fulfilling the Great Commission, they seek to promote their own ideas, interpretations, or doctrines among those who are already part of the church.
