Daily Devotions: Project vs. Calling - June 24, 2026

Acts 14:26 (ESV) - “And from there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work that they had fulfilled.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall highlights an important distinction between a calling and a project. Paul’s calling as an apostle would last a lifetime, but the missionary journey described in Acts was a specific assignment entrusted to him by God. When that assignment was completed, Paul returned to the church that had sent him out. Pastor Sumrall explains that God often gives His people projects with a clear beginning, purpose, and completion. While our calling may continue for many years, individual assignments are meant to be finished. Scripture repeatedly emphasizes the importance of completing the work God places in our hands rather than constantly starting new things without bringing existing responsibilities to completion.
