Joshua 1:16–18 (ESV) - “And they answered Joshua, ‘All that you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go. Just as we obeyed Moses in all things, so we will obey you. Only may the Lord your God be with you, as he was with Moses. Whoever rebels against your commandment and disobeys your words, whatever you command him, shall be put to death. Only be strong and courageous.’” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall shows us three expectations God’s people have for leaders He appoints. As Joshua steps into leadership, the people express their desire for a leader marked first by God’s presence, a life rooted in a real relationship with Him. Pastor Sumrall explains that strength is also essential. Leaders must not be easily swayed or controlled by pressure, but stand firm in what is right. Alongside strength is courage, the willingness to face opposition and lead forward even in difficult moments.
