Daily Devotions: Three Expectations of a Leader - April 7, 2025

Joshua 5:7 (ESV) - “So it was their children, whom he raised up in their place, that Joshua circumcised. For they were uncircumcised, because they had not been circumcised on the way.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall reflects on Israel’s preparation to enter the Promised Land and highlights how an entire generation failed to raise their children according to God’s covenant. He explains that the same generation that refused to trust God also neglected to teach their children obedience, showing that their hearts never truly changed even after 40 years in the wilderness. Pastor Sumrall emphasizes God’s mercy and grace, reminding us that even when people were faithless, God remained faithful in providing for them. He challenges parents to examine their own lives and consider whether they are faithfully teaching their children to follow God or leaving out important truths because of personal preferences.
