# Daily Markets Briefing — 2026-04-13 **Alex:** Welcome to your daily markets briefing. I'm Alex, here with Jordan to dive into the latest market movements and economic trends. **Jordan:** Thanks for having me, Alex. There's a lot happening, so let's get right to it. **Alex:** Let's start with our Allen Focus Names. I heard AI21 Labs is back in acquisition talks, this time with Nebius? What’s the story there? **Jordan:** Yes, AI21 Labs, the Israeli startup previously valued between $2 billion and $3 billion, is reportedly discussing a deal with Nebius after talks with Nvidia didn’t pan out. **Alex:** Interesting pivot. Speaking of big valuations, Anthropic just completed a secondary share sale, right? How did that go? **Jordan:** They did, though some investors couldn't buy as many shares as they wanted. Anthropic is now valued at $350 billion and is preparing for an IPO, possibly later this year. **Alex:** That’s huge. And they’re limiting the release of their new AI model, Mythos, to major tech firms to avoid misuse? **Jordan:** Exactly. They want to prevent potential cyberattacks, so Mythos is being released cautiously to trusted partners only. **Alex:** Moving on, Canva has been busy with acquisitions. What can you tell us about Simtheory and Ortto? **Jordan:** Canva acquired both companies to boost their AI and marketing capabilities, aiming to expand from just design into campaign scaling and workflow enhancements. **Alex:** Sounds like a smart move to enhance their platform. How about Instacart? I heard Raymond James upgraded them? **Jordan:** Right, Instacart was upgraded to Outperform with a $50 price target. Raymond James is bullish because of the grocery e-commerce growth and the launch of their Cart Assistant feature. **Alex:** Cart Assistant seems to be a game changer for them. Chewy is also making moves—what’s happening there? **Jordan:** Chewy is acquiring Modern Animal to expand its veterinary platform, expecting over $125 million in additional annual revenue. This deal should be accretive to earnings within the first year post-close. **Alex:** That’s a solid expansion strategy. Datadog also got an upgrade, right? **Jordan:** Yes, Guggenheim upgraded Datadog to Buy with a $175 price target, citing its strong position in AI-driven growth of data volumes. **Alex:** The AI theme really is everywhere. On the flip side, Disney is planning layoffs? **Jordan:** Correct. Under CEO Josh D’Amaro, Disney is planning significant layoffs to adapt to the competitive streaming market and reduced box office returns. **Alex:** Tough but maybe necessary given the changing landscape. Now, in our Event Driven segment, what’s the update on Seven & i's US convenience-store IPO? **Jordan:** Seven & i delayed the IPO to focus on improving business performance amid uncertain market conditions. **Alex:** Makes sense to hold off during volatility. And General Atlantic just completed an acquisition? **Jordan:** Yes, they acquired Team S
