Todd Frazier, 3-run shot off sack. Eflin, it did not go well for him. Michael Conforto, late in the game, that kind of just put it away. This is a tough game to put away though.
Certainly for Noah Cindergaard, he did win his 11th. His sixth-straight home start. That's fantastic. Second player in City Field history to win sixth-straight regular season starts at City Field.
Would you believe John Maine was the other one? He took a comebacker, and X-rays are negative. He's going to be fine, but he said after the game apparently that his life kind of flashed before his very eyes there. Cindergaard gave up 12 hits in this one.
Also walked a handful of guys. This was certainly not the sharpest Noah's ever been. But while Jacob de Grom is on his way to a side young award at 8-8, here's Noah Cindergaard pitching in a very mediocre fashion, and he's now 11-3. Cindergaard only struck out four in his six-and-two-thirds innings.
Got support from Frazier at a 3-run shot in his first homer since Wrigley back at the end of August. Jeff McNeil, what can you say? He's reached base safely, and each of his last 21 starts. He's hitting 384 during that time.
He has now a 494 hitter at City Field. He has the fifth player in franchise history with four triples in his first 43 games. That's a good. He joins Mookie and Ahmed Rosario and Jose Reyes.
But Harrelson was at the ballpark. You might know that Bud is battling Alzheimer's. It is a very difficult thing. A lot of people I'm sure were very happy to see Bud Harrelson.
If you don't know, Bud was a short stop who was very steady, always in position, heads up player, didn't have any power. The guy had seven career home runs. But part of what Casey Stangol had called the youth of America, and by the time he was done only at Crainpool, he played in more games as a mat. He debuted as a 150-pound middle infielder.
Gained enough, weight became a switch hitter, kind of on the fly. He made a nice little career for himself. I'm sure how he, among others, was very, very happy to see Bud at the game. There was a simulated game for David Wright beforehand.
And everybody's waiting to see if David can just get into a game or two. I know David wants to get into more. But the man deserves to go out in style somehow. This is a man who has been humbled by his own body in recent years.
And he's at a crossroads here. Obviously, these injuries are significant. He's at the mercy of his back and neck and whatever other part of the anatomy that might want to cause him discomfort here. He's played 75 games the last three years.
And if this was the AL, we'd be saying, all right, you know, just grab a bat in the H a little bit. But he really wants to get out there in the field. He wants to make some sort of difference here. And he certainly, as he has said before, doesn't want to cross Jacob to Gromis saw young by striking out in a big spot and misplaying a fly ball.
So that's why he's making darn sure he is ready to come back and help. Tomas Nido was a help in this game. The backup catcher had a base that's loaded double. Jay Bruce was on base four times.
We mentioned the Conforto home run. Nimmo now, as he went one and for two with a couple of walks, he's hitting four 13 in his last 18 games. Dominic Smith, though, he struck out with the bases loaded. He left with a tight left groin.
That doesn't sound like a lot of fun. He finally got to play him back to back games. And that's what he gets for his trouble, unfortunately. So since I wasn't there, since I was bouncing all around, I'll detail that for you in a moment.

Yeah, X-rays negative on Cindergarten. He looks to be in a pretty good spot, so that's really good news. Dom, just tweaked his groin just a little bit last night on a play. And it started tightening up tonight, so we felt best to get him out of there.
With Cindergarten, I know you're trying to get him deep in the game. Was there any point in that inning where you thought, all right, I'm not sure how much longer he can go here? Yeah, I think that obviously his pitch count was up there. That was going to be his last batter anyway.
And when you have a guy like Cindergarten, we either, and the way they've been pitching, they have their best chance. And I'd like them to get to their pitch counts. I think they've deserved it to be able to get out of their own messes as long as they have pitches left. So it was, we thought about it, but we thought best to leave him in at that point.
What did you think overall was a little bit off with him tonight? Yeah, just overall command, maybe lacking a little bit. I think that obviously he's done, had better command with his fastball, but he battled really hard and put up a pretty good game. He could have easily gotten through there with seven innings and two runs.
On the left. We didn't know we'd get hit exactly. The right and the lower rib cage on the right side. And with Dom and Nick, he had a tweak in last night.
Was there any thoughts of not having him in left field, maybe having him first? No, he came in in a pretty good spot. You know, he kind of tweaked it on the dive last night, but was not limited at all coming into today. And then started tightening him up, tightening up a little bit later in the game.
And we got him out. That's right. I think there were two amount of visits with Nola before he left. And the next pitch you got, out.
One of those play, I think. What does it say to a guy does that? When he gets out immediately after he's visited? Yeah, it's, you know, maybe we have a really good pitching coach that makes good visits and says the right things.
But no, I think in those situations, you know, maybe things start going a little awry. And you kind of reel him back in and let him relax a little bit. Hey, go out there and make a pitch. You got great stuff.
And he does. Aaron, on the left. Jeff McNeil has continued to pace your offense for the last however many games. What can you say about what he's done for your team?
He's added a whole another dimension to the way, you know, our lineup looks. He has a little bit of a different skill set than some other guys. He's able to spray the ball around the field. He's great left on the left.
So you know, just adding that whole other dynamic to your lineup makes it that much more challenging for a pitcher to come out and navigate things. And we've seen that that really helps. Steve. Nick, I know you've talked about this a few times, but with each passing day when you see not just McNeil, but what Rosario continues to do at the top of the order, how much more comfortable do you get with the thought of that being a long-term option next season?
I think I'm really comfortable with it. I think, you know, one of the reasons we're batting those guys in those spots is not an experiment anymore. It's because we're also probably our best team with those two guys at those spots. And it's kind of been showing.
So I feel comfortable with those guys in that position, that's for sure. Steve. I mean, it's kind of defensively about how he's improved turning the double play, but certainly seems like he's making other plays that maybe wasn't talked about when he came up here. Have you noticed a marked improvement in his defensive play in those situations?
Or has he, in your mind, pretty much had that since he came up here? He's had it since he came up here. I think I've been very, very impressed with his range. Early on, he was going to his left really good and making some really good plays.
Lately, I've seen him going up the middle and turning and throwing on the run, making some even better plays. So, you know, ever since he got here, I've seen a pretty good defender at second base. And he's definitely improved like you talked about on turning too. All right.
Thank you, Mick. And I've now got about 18 minutes before I'm trapped in an airport here at LaGuardia. And just so that you know, the reason I wasn't there, I wasn't playing hooky. UCLA was at Oklahoma.
I lost pretty badly, but it's still fun being in Oklahoma. I got a rise out of the locals by asking them what the Russia's China plans were. They're not going over, you know, super swimmingly. But it was fun.
I've been back to Oklahoma in a long time. And it's certainly a flat experience. I'll give you that. And 86,000 sooner fans can't be wrong.

This is a Jacob de Grom's start. It'll be up against Vince Velazquez who's a game under 500 as basically de Grom. He's a 500 pitcher himself, you know. But Velazquez has a 4.10 ERA de Grom's significantly lower.
In fact, he's got a shot here to do something pretty remarkable. He's got a chance of having baseball's lowest ERA in the last 50 seasons since Bob Gibson in the year of the pitcher. Doc Goodens 85, he probably memorized this a 1.53 ERA. But you know what the Mets record was in Goodens starts?
It was 28 and 7. The Mets are 12 and 16 in De Grom's 28 starts so far. And even though 7 losses were Doc that year, a couple of them were pretty weird. He pitched 9 shutout innings against the Cardinals and the Mets lost anyway because they saw Daniel Homer off a Rosco in the 10th.
Stuff like that is bound to happen if just has happened to De Grom a ton. Even if you take away the game against the Phillies when Jake only pitched 1 inning before he was taken out. What he's doing here, pitching this well and not winning. It's impossible.
I mean, he didn't give up more than 3 runs in any of these starts. His ERA in the losses is 199. And let's walk this back for a second here. De Grom threw 7 shutout innings against the Marlins.
The Mets couldn't score the bullpen blew the game in the 9th. He was brilliant twice against the Cubs. First time he allowed 1 run and struck out 13. Mets lost that game at 14 innings.
He was amazing against him again at Riggly with the win. Gusting out, he went 8 innings allowed just 1 run. The Mets lost that game in 11 innings. If the man had 11 wins right now instead of 8, there would be no discussion about who's the NL-Suyang award winner.
It would be this soft-spoken fireballing string bean from the middle of nowhere, Florida. So Mets bats, I implore you. Get the man some runs today is the very least you can do. And that's all I got to say about that.
