Daily Mishna #32: Berachot 6:4
from West Deal Torah Center Hosted by Magen David of West Deal Synagogue
Rabbi Joseph Dana records a short daily Mishnah class, working through all of Mishnah a few minutes at a time. Mishnah Berachot 6:4 - when several foods in front of you share one beracha, which one do you say it on? The Mishnah's disagreement: Rabbi Yehuda says a fruit from the seven species Eretz Yisrael is praised with takes priority automatically; the Chachamim say it is whichever food you like best, even over a seven-species fruit. Where they agree: equal preference goes to the seven species. The class closes with the practical Rosh Hashana question - the apple or the date first - and the Mekubalim's case for the apple.
