daily304 – Episode 09.03.2026

from daily304's podcast

Welcome to the daily304 – your window into Wonderful, Almost Heaven, West Virginia. Today is Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026. …and now for the rest of the stories…on today's daily304.com! #1 – From WV PRESS – Getting colorful for a cause Run. Walk. Get covered head to toe in color. And help support recovery across Appalachia. The Color Dash for Hope 5K returns to ACE Adventure Resort in Oak Hill, bringing families, runners and walkers together to support Hope in the Hills, a nonprofit working to strengthen communities of recovery and healing throughout Appalachia. The relatively easy course winds through the ACE property to Concho Overlook, where participants get a spectacular view of the New River Gorge before heading back toward the finish line. Along the way, color stations transform those clean white shirts into something a little more memorable. Proceeds support Hope in the Hills programs ranging from youth prevention and healthy lifestyles to recovery housing and recovery-to-work initiatives. A little exercise. A lot of color. And a pretty good reason to get outside. And a growing network of people ready to help turn those places into movie sets. The West Virginia Film Office is helping filmmakers discover the Mountain State as a destination for film, television and other productions. Its resources include a statewide locations library, a searchable directory of professional crew and support services and assistance navigating permits. West Virginia also offers filmmakers a significant financial incentive. The state's Film Production Tax Credit provides up to 31% in transferable tax credits on qualified in-state spending, with no per-project or talent cap. Eligible projects include feature films, television productions, post-production, music videos and commercial photography. West Virginians can get involved, too. Actors and crew members can register with the Film Office to receive information about upcoming projects, while property owners can submit homes, businesses and other locations for consideration by productions. Almost Heaven might just be ready for its close-up. And this year, two of their productions found major audiences on Netflix. In March and April, "Gaslit by My Husband: The Morgan Metzer Story" reached number one on Netflix, while "Bad Guardian" climbed to number four. It's a West Virginia film story that comes full circle. Two brothers leave home to learn the business. They bring that experience back. And now they're producing movies from West Virginia that are reaching audiences across the country.
