Damien On The Radio Episode 001v2

Greetings friends! Welcome to the second installment of Damien On The Radio. A PodCast dedicated to rebroadcasting old radio shows I did over the last year. This volume continues the Ryan Adams (and the Cardinals) tribute begun in the first volume. If you're REALLY savvy, you can splice the two together (but I'd wait for the last two volumes to get the whole experience). College Radio is an art. It really brings all sorts of music and talk experiences to the listener. Here's an interesting story about this show. As I mentioned in the first volume, I'd JUST returned from a four show mini-tour with Ryan Adams. The second show in this run was in Myrtle Beach, at the House of Blues. HOB has a neat little opportunity for those in the know: you can "Crash The Gate." This means, for about ten American dollars more, you can sit down in the HOB, get fed (amply, in our case), and be let into the show before everyone else. This is GOLD for a General Admission show. Well, we Crashed the Gate, and ended up about ten feet away from Ryan. So - One of the girls in our group is crazy for this guy. She takes off her calculator watch and throws it at him between songs. Disappointingly, it bounces off his leg, and we don't think he even felt it. The next show I see is in Charleston, SC. Ryan comes out of the theatre, and shakes the hand I've dumbfoundedly stuck out in front of him. On his wrist - THE CALCULATOR WATCH!!! I emailed Neal Casal, the guitarist for the Cardinals, and he confirmed it. "He's wearing it all the time now. Cool, huh?" I'll say! So - if this all sounds like I'm a frickin' high school cheerleader, just wait - it gets better. This week, Ryan Adams' newest release, Easy Tiger, hit stores. The cover is a black and white shot, taken by Neal Casal, of him sitting in a Thinkeresque pose. His head on his fist, it seems he's got things to work out... On his wrist, in glowing blue, the calculator watch... So- there it is. A little piece of Ryan Adams trivia you'll never get asked about, and probably forget in about ten minutes. But, it was simply boggling to me, and that's why I mention the story here. Anyway - enjoy the second volume.
