Also a P.hD in Asian Arts and philosophies (unrecognized field of study) from the university of Hawaii. Started karate and kobudo in 1982 originally under O'sensei Richard Kim with the Zen Bien Butokukai. First came to Okinawa in 1993. 7th Dan Renshi in Meibukan Gojyu-Ryu and long time member of the IMGKA, the International Meibukan Gojyu-Ryu karate-do association. Studying Gojyu since 1982 and Meibukan since 1989 under 3 generations of the Yagi family. In this episode Dan Sensei gives his thoughts on what makes Okinawa a special place, and why getting to know the history of the Uchinachu can only deepen the practice of your chosen art.
