Within a year, the Newton Abbot-based company had been shortlisted for two Decanter wine awards. The team at Wickhams are hugely passionate about knowing the story behind the wines they sell, a quarter of which come from England and Wales, so they can help encourage their customers to try new varieties from producers they might not have come across before. This year, Wickhams made the finals in two categories at the International Wine Challenge Merchant Awards against heavyweights including  Laithwaites and Waitrose and picked up the trophy for Specialist Merchant of the Year for their dedication to English wine.
