Dana White has brain damage, Kattar and Holloway set to battle this weekend, and Don't Wake a Sleeping Buffalo

from Fight Talk Unlimited · host Fight Talk Unlimited

Francois Botha was scheduled for this broadcast, but we had some time zone issues. We catch up on a little MMA and boxing news. We preview Kattar vs. Holloway and Brown vs. Condit in addition to discussing the plight of former UFC fighter Spencer "The King" Fisher. Dana White is working in some areas to address the study of cognitive issues related to fighting by supporting studies with funds from the UFC, but he passes these serious injuries off in recent public statements as just part of the game. We discuss why the rules of his game and his organization made that "part of the game" worse than it would be in another league where "putting on a show" is not so stressed in all aspects of a fighter's employment. The worst part is that Dana White himself acted like he personally suffers from brain damage due to fighting. He has an ear issue related to sparring with his boxing trainer one day. There is no evidence Dana White ever had a documented competitive fight in his life. He is not on par with fighters who completed full careers in the cage. Rich warns that a class action lawsuit related to concussion and other major injuries from the "put on a show" mentality could closely follow any settlement or other victory in the current monopoly case against the league. Tom, Tony and Rich also chat about the UFC's recent decision to forego punishment of fighters who test positive for Marijuana. We don't get a chance to interview the scheduled guest, but he's lined up again for next week. Francois Botha, AKA "The White Buffalo" will definitely connect with us next week.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/fight-talk-unlimited--3082453/support.
