Dancing our life away
from Poetry by Tim Windisch · host Tim Windisch
Dancing our life away I saw your eyes and then I started to shimmy Suddenly there I was acting like little Timmy My words were grooving and doing the twist Moonwalking to the peepers I couldn’t resist There was stardust floating I swear from the start And yes I knew it when I heard the music that day This was the only woman who can rhumba my heart Oh, baby those tootsies slide forever dancing our life away I’m polishing my blue suede shoes and I got my dance floor wax Picked my favorite swinging records from the man cave stacks Speakers are thumping on the wood floors, I am spinning on one toe Vibes are flowing lip syncing Sinatra okay baby I’m ready to go There was stardust floating I swear from the start And yes I knew it when I heard the music that day This was the only woman who can rhumba my heart Oh, baby those tootsies slide forever dancing our life away Dancing our life Like Fred and Ginger, or Cyd and Gene Dancing our life We’ll show them something they’ve never seen Dancing our life away Swinging together every day We make our own music, hear our beat Just can’t possibly control our feet Forever dancing our life away Tim Windisch 11/05/2022
