Knowing the future can feel more frightening than comforting, especially when it includes suffering. Daniel sees successive empires rise, a cruel ruler attack the Jews, and their temple defiled, yet these events unfold as God foretold. Nothing escapes His control. Because Jesus has come and will return to establish His kingdom, God's people can keep their attention on the living hope ahead despite present uncertainty.
