A recipient of awards from the Guggenheim Foundation, the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and the Koussevitzky Music Foundation, his works have been performed by leading ensembles including the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and the Cassatt String Quartet. Mr. Godfrey is Professor Emeritus of Music at Northeastern University and co-founder of the Seal Bay Festival of American Chamber Music in Maine. His recordings appear on labels such as Koch, Bridge, and Albany, and his influence as both a composer and teacher continues to shape contemporary American chamber music.
