McGrath explains the foundation’s national scope, with most grantmaking in Kentucky, Florida, Louisiana, and Texas, and highlights a Florida report analyzing public state and national data plus interviews with seniors and nonprofit partners. Key findings include nearly 1 in 8 Florida seniors diagnosed with depression, 1 in 12 experiencing frequent mental distress, a 16% rise in hospitalizations due to mental disorders (2022–2024), and senior suicide rates above the national average, highest among those 85+.
