Danielle Smith is a longtime advocate for limited government, and in the late 2000s she decided join the Wildrose Party, which was new in Alberta, Canada. Under her leadership, the party managed to rise considerably, but she chose to leave and join the Progressive Conservatives and lost her run for reelection.
